things to look for on a 2005 reissue pointy Charvel

I am looking at a 2005 point reissue anything I should be on the look out for to ensure it's legit? It's a SSH config with FR. Are these custom shop guitars, will that be marked anywhere? Not sure I need another blue charvel, I have a model 2 in blue and a candy blue San Damas Pro Mod HH.

these are not custom shop guitars but there are not production models like the later charvel strat heads. I would compare them to the Jackson selects. I dont' think anyone has been caught faking these. the ones I have had (owed 2 still have one) oiled and qtrsawn necks both were thin one was wider than the other, bodies are pretty heavy,

They were production models when the USA Charvel line came back. You could get them with your choice of rosewood, maple or ebony boards, vintage trem or Floyd, 1H, 2H, H/S/S. I used to own a black H/H Star with Floyd and maple board, and it was a very nice guitar.

I bought my second one for 675 and sold it for around $600. couldn't sell it for the life of me. It was a h/s solid black. the other one I probably overpaid at $900 and it's a red ghost flames. To me the prices should be between 700-1000. these were around 1450 new. these are better built then the American production line charvels.

I have a black 1H as well as a blue 2H pointy Charvel. Both play and sound fantastic! I bought them used, one on another forum and the other was traded in at a local Guitar Center. You can't beat the used prices on these. Shred machines!

If you're looking at a solid color SD, that seems a little pricey even if they say it is "never played". Like others have said, these should go for $600 - $1,000 with graphics being on the upper end. They are great playing guitars. One thing I would watch for is the headstock clearcoat. A number of these SD reissues had some clearcoat lifting on the headstock. Make sure you get some good closeup pics of the headstock.

True, I forgot to mention the clear coat issue on some of the headstocks although neither of mine have that problem. They do seem to be selling at under $1K although the guitars feel and play like they're worth way more than that. The blue 2H Charvel with Floyd Rose I have, I bought used but it's literally unplayed. The original owner left the receipt in the case which shows he paid a bit over $1700.00 new.

I recently picked this one up for $670.00. It's in awesome shape except for a little finish flaking on the HS. I'm down to 4 guitars and this one is definitely staying.

I have two and both are stellar guitars. I have a two hum Copperhead that is very light at 7.4lbs and extremely resonant. The other is a black h/s layout and is also fairly light at 7.8lbs. Both have Rosewood boards and sound great. The black one is still new and unplayed I got it in a mutiguitar trade. The Copperhead is a 2005 and has a small spot of lift on the headstock that has not spread since I got it. The black one is a 2007 and sports a two piece body and no clear coat lift.

Want a vintage robins egg blue with maple neck and one zebra
Duncan distortion at the bridge and a floyd rose. They said the
Vintage REB would take another 2-3 months, fenders sonic blue
Is very close.

Even at $1000 in 'new' condition they are worth every penny.

If I found another (in the right configuration for me which is generally 1 hum, Floyd) I wouldn't hesitate to buy at that price.

BTW: roody...love your 2 hum blue Strat!!

These pointies have become somwhat scarce on ebay lately. I dont think you can beat the bang for the buck on these used if you like thin wide necks that are silky smooth.

Thank you Kurt, its a fantastic player! The black 1hum/Floyd one I have is killer too. I'm with you on those, if I spot another one in nice shape, for cheap I'm snaggin' it!
