  • What designates "San Dimas style"?

Is it just the designation given to the US built models? It seems that all of them that I've looked at had no pickguard (rear mounted controls and pickup rings only), is that one of the features? Are they more collectable? What's the scoop?

If we are talking about the newer ones the san dimas are the rear routed style. so cals are the ones with pickguards. the strat shape was san dimas style one and he tele style 2 when they first came out.

To me San Dimas means the early 80's guitars built in Southern Ca, but as mentioned above there are also the newer san dimas models. And the San dimas strat body style that seems to be shaped a little different than fender strats.

Are they always, or almost always, maple fretboards?

Fretboard can be anything... but RacerX has shown the differences pretty well.

Or are you referring to options on the custom shop quote form? Because, depending on context, that can mean 1) body style, 2) headstock shape or 3) neck dimensions.

Really like that blueburst with the white edge. Only thing that could make it better would be a maple neck and then I'd make you an offer you couldn't refuse.....
