  • Charvel Star Retro Makeover

I picked up one of the 2005 reissue Stars from Dave Rocks a few months ago. He did a bang-up job setting it up, and has been my best playing guitar, but being black, with black everything, I decided I wanted something a bit more 'vintage' looking...

    After:

A big thanks to Dave Rocks, Ward, matt_gu3, and Drake S. for the guitar and parts!

BigE13, went with a DiMarzio Super Distortion. I've got them in 2 or 3 guitars, and they always sound good to my ears!

        Predator1, Thanks!

I'm kinda digging the previous lean, mean, black on black look. Had a 2005 Std. 2H Star. All black. Hated giving it up because the trem didn't float enough.

nice!!!! like the new look way better...looks a little less "metal" than the all black!!
                GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Definitely has a more vintage feel with the chrome.

                  Looks awesome!

                      Thanks guys!

Vector, I've got the 'none more black' KV2, and I wouldn't change a thing on that, but it seems like the round tips on the star want some creme and chrome, haha!

Some people hate that late '70's early '80's look, for me its what Charvels and BC Richs dare I say it are all about...otherwise it just looks like a Jackson/ESP/etc etc modern metal machine and looses its Star qualities.

Way cool IMO! Definitely an improvement.

The necks on those weren't quartersawn were they, just oil finished?

It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

Gorgeous love it id have been partial to gold on her but still loving the change. It takes it from that modern and aggressive look to something that is just so classically metal.
