Just like the topic says, does anyone know what value the san dimas volume pot is? I think it's 500k, but not sure...

Actually I think they are 250k as they are pretty weak. I keep having problems with the toggle switch on my Slime Green San Dimas and Wildcard #2 as they keep phasing out unless you give them a nudge. But definitely I think they could be upgraded. You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.

This could be why the Duncan Custom I tried in my Wild Card #3 and So Cal was a little lacking in highs and forced me to put the JB's back in.
I had a couple of EVH Bourns 500k pots that a buddy gifted me just sitting around so I finally put them in today after reading this.
They feel so smooth! I'll see what they sound like through my rig tomorrow, I've not been liking the JB for some time now.
May have to try the Custom again.Last edited by TX-Joe; 04-22-2012, 07:58 PM.

My JB tends to have a shrill high end and I'm wondering if the EVH pot is going to open it up a tad adding to the shrillnes.
Also, when I took out the stock pots I could not find the 250k ( or 500 ) rating on it anywhere. I did however find the CTS brand marking.Last edited by TX-Joe; 04-23-2012, 11:14 AM.

This thread got my interest because for some reason the JB in one of mine lacked any bottom end. I've since replaced it with a new CTS 500k and it sounds great now. I emailed CTS with the codes on the pots I removed and they said that they "appear" to be 500k made for Fender. So whatever "appear" means, go figure, they sure don't sound like the 500k's I replaced them with. I even metered them up and they were around 250 to 300.

I may be wrong here but I don't think the resistance value is a factor when using the pot as volume. I think it only matters when the pot is paired with a capacitor and used as a tone. (I'm sure someone with more than my High School electronics background can give me an education.)
