Charvel is owned by Fender and I believe the new necks have a disclaimer on the back of the headstock. I don't know of any other company manufacturer selling start headstock guitars (not US anyway). If you purchase a neck from mighty mite, WD Music, Allparts, Warmoth, etc. take a look at the tag on the tuner holes. It will state that the neck is to be used for replacement on a Genuine Fender product. To me it sounds crazy and what about necks bought off of Ebay. But, what is someone going to do - go up against a large corporation and fight it. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of scratch.

    Sorry for the thread tangent.

Not to go off topic but let me give an example of how FMIC 'dealt' with issues surrounding the Yngwie Malmsteen Tribute Stratocaster from a few years ago. That guitar was always referred to as the 'Duck' for the Donald Duck sticker on the face of the headstock. Also on the back of the original guitar is the badge of Scuderia Ferrari (Team Ferrari).
Since FMIC didn't want to pay any royalties to Disney for the Duck or Ferrari, which is even more strictly enforced, they named the guitar known as the 'Duck', the Play Loud. Play Loud was a sticker on the front of the body. Nobody owned the rights to that so it was free....
These may seem like trifling details, but they just go to show how corporations avoid paying other corporations anything if possible..
Bottom line is if you want something bad enough and will pay enough, you can get it...
      But don't expect a bargain..
