The 2000 is the special, cheaper quality steel and what-not.

    From the Floyd Rose site.

"The Floyd Rose Special is our Authentic version of a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo system manufactured in Korea exclusively for Floyd Rose. The Floyd Rose Special maintains the construction parameters and features of an Original Floyd Rose, while utilizing zinc alloy saddles in place of steel and a zinc alloy sustain block in place of brass. The design specifications and high quality materials of the Special Series Floyd Rose bridge will hold up to the demands of today's performers."

I've got an old JT590 Schaller-made trem collar around here somewhere that's got the same chunk missing from it as was posted earlier, so it's not really fair to say that only the Korean collars are junk. I took it off the original unit myself.

I had 7 different USA Charvels 9SoCals and SD1s) and did not have a problem with the trems. I think most of the detraction is psychological and every minor flaw - that can be found as frequently in the German units, I might add - is accepted as the be-all/end-all representation of every unit made in Korea.

Cheap labor does not always equal cheap material and cheap construction. If the Dollar is stronger against the Korean currency, that doesn't mean the cost of living ratio is radically different - you spend 70% or more of your annual income on rent, food, etc, so do they. A gallon of gas here is on average 1/5 the hourly pay rate, just as it is over there. It doens't cost them a million dollars to buy a can of gas, it costs a comparable amount to our $3.05 per gallon (last I saw this week).

However, because it costs considerably fewer US dollars to pay someone in Korean currency (Yuan?), everyone assumes they're not using quality materials and can't do quality work.
