Why would you want pearloid instead of real Mother Of Pearl? Pearloid is the off-white binding color Jackson uses on their necks and headstocks, and their logos are usually MOP or white. Ask if you can get the MOP for your Charvel.

      The binding on
the neck is pearloid - that was what i was shooting for. But I asked the dealer about the MOP & he said no on that as well... Maybe I'll call Tuesday & push the issue again...

        No MOP Charvel decals? Strange.

That really is a shame..... You place an order for your dream guitar, and your probably paying a hell of a lot of money for it, and it seems like they are doing everything in there power to say no to the pain staking details.... I wish Grover Jackson would just take back the company and call it a day... It's not like fender shows any interest in keeping Charvel true to their name anyway....

The wait I don't have a problem with, it's missing the deadline that's insulting to customers.

If Charvel quotes it will take 24 months to get a CS piece out fine, I guess if you really want one that's the only option and you know what to expect. The issue is when either a complacent dealer or JC itself quotes 6 months and then it takes years. I gues they get away with it by not specifying what PLANETARY calendar they refer to....

That's ivoroid binding, Toe. Pearloid is a strat pickguard finish. MOP-looking plastic, aka mother-of-toilet-seat.

Oh, yeah. You're right, it is ivoroid binding that they use. My mistake. I knew their was an "oid" in there somewhere. Either way, it's kinda of strange they won't use pearloid or MOP for the logo. Maybe they just give Jacksons more options that they won't allow on Charvels...

They must have shipped em all to India to use on the Desolation Stars.

The wait times are stupid. I would NEVER wait that long for a guitar, custom or not.

As far as options for custom logos, this is definitely true. It's just a whole lot harder to do things like MOP or abalone with the Charvel logo, because it is so much smaller than Jackson's. Plus they already do MOP for the USA Select line, so it's readily available for Jacksons.

RH has a good point, though. Maybe they can get one of the pearl-like logos used on the Chinese Desolation models, and add the "made in USA" part underneath, as cut from a USA logo decal. Might be a good idea.

Hi guys, Thanbks for the posts, and the suggestions for the logo issue. I'm gonna call the dealer first thing tomorrow, and run some of these options by him. BTW... Guitarhotline.com (aka Reno's Music) was the Charvel dealer that I ordered from. They have been great through the whole waiting process, and have kept me updated whenever Charvel gave them an update on my guitar.

I'm 14 months in on my Charvel CS order. I'll never order another one - ridiculous wait time. I'll just buy from what dealers order and have in stock or buy used. My order is a plain white guitar - 1 pickup, Floyd - nothing out of the ordinary, no crazy graphic... Really pisses me off - I was quoted 8 months...

Steve - hey my man. That's why I started this post... To give us expectant fathers a place to reassure each other that there will be an end to our long wait. Hang in there, my brother, it'll get to ya - and that's coming from a guy that has been waiting 1 month LESS than you (13 months for me). But I do feel your pain. If their wait time was less than 6 months, I'd order three more in a heartbeat... ARE YOU LISTENING CHARVEL!!!!
