Charvel Custom Shop Order - 1 year down and still waiting...

        Nor has it ever been. Like every other guitar manufacturer some guitars no matter who makes it is just a turd. I've had several charvels from the early 80s including pre pros many were boat anchors. Overall though I'd say charvels quality is better today than it ever has been.

        • You would like to think that the guitars they build specifically for NAMM are as close to perfect as possible. I bought a NAMM Jackson a couple years ago and the nut was way off center. I fixed it but still...........

              The 'wait time' and the QC issues are why I gave up COMPLETELY on Fender/Charvel/Jackson......they lost my business long ago.
              I can easily afford 1 or 2 Custom Shop orders per year but have instead been buying USED/Vintage 80's Charvel, Jackson, BC Rich guitars.

              My NEW order money has been going to GMP....obviously!

              FMIC doesn't care because C/J (and their other brands) are considered sideline competition to the flagship brand.

              • Have bounced back and forth on pulling the plug on my CS order (apologies for derail- it's actually a Jackson Star- Charvel wouldn't do neck thru) because of the wait and other factors. Just ask Matt But ultimately, I don't rate 1, let alone 3 custom axes so, I decided this will be the last. Therefor, I'm gonna wait it out.

                Oh yeah... and because they already started work on it.

                  Working on an order now. Accepted the fact its a two year wait. Maybe by then I might rate an 1/8th of one.

                    Hell, someone could order a CS and get diagnosed with terminal cancer, go for treatment, have that treatment fail, spend his/her last few days in hospice, and the build sheet MIGHT make it to the Custom Shop builder of their guitar before they pass on.
                    That's just ridiculous for a wait time.
                    I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

                      • I could build you that guitar in way less than 2 years and I've never built one. lol Just kidding, I have built many but still no reason for the wait, 3-6 months yeah. 2 years no. If it was an acoustic Taylor or something..... It's a black on black strat. I'm sure you paid out the ass for it too. A lot of money for a neck profile and a Charvel sticker. ..............You know what I was just thinking, Charvel made Guthrie Govan 2 custom charvels in way less than year and he probably did pay squat for them. It pisses me off that a honest customer shelling out a premium for a guitar has to wait more than a year. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, you shouldn't need to suffer for the companies lack of efficiency.

If I could cancel my remaining orders I and get my money refunded I would. But those orders are all over a year and a half old to with exception to one I ordered from Curt.
                          Update. After hearing of my troubles and extensive wait Mike Mcgreggor went above and beyond to make this right for me. Without question I couldn't have imagined a better outcome. A big thank you to Mike, Red Dave and Kurt at charvel. Their excellent service has guaranteed consistant return of a lifelong customer.
