  • Thought I'd share this with you guys

So ive had my crossed swords for about a month and a half now. And I will admit, when I first got it, I hated it. I went as far as to put up a classifieds at on CL and on here... And on the bay. Well I had zero bites on the bay so I pulled it due to all the low ball offers. So last week I'm having setups done and some fretwork done on my guitars so I was without all of them for a week, minus the crossed swords. So I practiced with the charvel for about 4 hours a day for the week, (I'm applying to Berkley soon). Fast forward a few days... I have absolutely fallen in love with this guitar. I love the unique tone I get out of this... And the neck is really growing on me.... I've gone as far as to order a trem stop, big block and a chrome OFR for it. This goes to show that not every one of our favorite guitars are love at first sight, or feel I should say. I'm glad that I went through all this. I'm looking forward to a long lasting relationship with it. Others who have had simplistic experiences, I'd love to hear your stories.

Funny you say this, I built my first star specifically for me with what I thought I wanted...It took months to bond with it and now its my number one. Sometimes it just takes a bit of break in i think. Glad your lovin it man!

Congrats. What pickup is in there - a JB or a JB2 or something else?

It took a long time for me to bond with my second LP - a 2002 Standard I bought new on ebay. Maybe a couple of years while it "aged" At first it was sharp and edgy and would bite your head off, but as it mellowed it became one of my favorite LPs. I play this one for Metal more than my other LPs. It does hard rock and cleans up great too.

very similar experience. I wasn't wowed with any of the ones I played initially, other than thinking they were a great guitar for the money. Last year I put together a parts USA san dimas for a friend. After logging some hours on it to get the setup perfect, the neck really started growing on me. By the time I had to give the guitar back, he almost had to rip it from my hands! The longer you play the necks, the more addictive they feel. I now own several of my own, lol.

Funny, I'm the opposite - as soon as I buy a guitar and set it up to my liking, I know right then if it's a keeper or not.

Just curious, do you have 9's or 10's on the Crossed Sword?

I have 10-52's on it. Currently waiting for my chrome Floyd to arrive. This guitar should have came with chrome hardware like Warrens original

Do you tune to 440? Or down a half step or two?

Dude, I'm glad you are happy. I've read some of your posts, which seem like, "I'm buying it, no I'm trading it, maybe selling it, now I'm keeping it"

We've all been there in some form or fashion....yours just seemed a little rapid fire

Haha probably my severe case of ADD. But I'm extremely happy now, and it looks KILLER with the chrome hardware!
