The best part for me about playing guitar is I don't ever play for other people. I just try to connect and let it flow. My favorite thing in the world is to throw on a straight blues backing track and work on feel and phrasing. I'm not trying to be better than anyone or prove anything. Just every once in a while you hit that magic sweet spot where the notes just fall out of your hands and it feels and sounds great.

I'll never be as good as my guitar heroes, but I'm not guitar OCD or dedicated enough to practice constantly, and unfortunately my heroes are crazy talented. I have gotten better than I ever thought I could be when I first started though and that zen type connection to the universe has been a real grounding thing in my life.

Plus laughing at Peter Sellers in The Party. I watch it at least once a year, and I cry with laughter every time. You don't see movies based around that type of character anymore and you probably never will. There was nothing badass about him, but he still got the hot chick in the end hehe.

Sorry but I'm barging in and stepping all over this. Blam eit on lots of fucking heat and sun and same same for the tequila. Hellbat, you don't need to play for peeps to be digging it. I suck ass at guitar but I don't put myself up against no one 'cept maybe the other guitar player in my band and he's one o' my best pals. Long as I can outshred him, it's all good. But in truth, it's about the fucking magic ya create for yerself. If you are progressing and digging it then fuck it. Who cares? Play that bitch and don't look back.

Atomic, can't say as I know what yer dealing with but it certainly sounds fucking heavy, man. It's all good. That shit & how we respond to it , defines us as peeps. Sounds like yer defining yourself. Most schlubs out there are defined by what they never do or don't accomplish. Some are defined by adverse shit that goes off in front of them like a Bouncing Betty landmine. I hope that whatever shit is in yer path becomes part of the past and don't fucking look back. Define your life. Leave yer legacy in how you deal with life. Peace, bro. Rock on.

            Thank you Tommy.
That's a heavy read, and well worth it to those who can learn from your experiences.

This is also the forum that got me hooked.
I have learned a lot here.
Especially that those are REAL people behind those avatars.
Makes me think of those we have actually lost forever.

Hey buddy... Good to find you here. I stop by this place now & then. Its not like it used to be...but I guess that's OK. You are making me miss those glory days..the golden age of all those great Charvel places online. Good times. Good friends.

I have found playing guitar to be a great healer. Just play. It doesn't matter if you live up to anyone's standards...or the standards in your head. Fuck it. Play.

If you need a guitar...I may have something. You know I've got the good shit.

Hey Tommy, good to read from ya - you sound clear and true, which is cool. I haven't popped in here for quite some time, but have been in to research, and trade.
That said, I hope you journey well with another axe n hand. (and I hear ya about quitting and the long road back, I had to much happening in mine that I had to take some times away as well, but, roads back are worth it)
Pick it up, write, leave your mark.

hey man can't say that I know who you are ,but I have started playing the instrument almost 3 years now....and I have fallen in love with jackson and charvel although I have never owned one (dont ask how it can happen.... it's that pointy headstock that got me into jackson and then I learned about the charvel guitars and all that staff about them,of being innovators at the fretboard radius ,countour pfff you name it.So this is enough to get me in the magic of those guitars).Maybe as a young guy I am amazed of those glory days of charvel because I wasn't there to live these days, but to me it seems better to keep carrying the spirit of those guitars nowadays and bring those days back.I'll tell you what if I ever fullfil my dream of becoming a touring musician with my band I am going to be playing only Jackson and Charvels or anything else original , no fucking ESP copies of other guitars and shit.......our guitars and community rule

you guys are all too kind. Love seeing Brian Steff and Charvelguy, Lev, all of you. I'll be popping in more, tomorrow's a good day coming,
out here at least, lots of talent and beautiful fruit to go and meet and talk to on the 4th in HB and Newport beach. I'll be hobbling but who fuckin' cares right?

Tonemonster, I cut off about 20 inches of my hair about a month ago, it's only at my shoulders now, wasn't able to take care of it,
was too busted up, it hurt, but i look younger, and that's fine with me, some people say i still look around 30-32, so at 47 i'll sign up for that
everytime, i could use about 20 lbs on me though. i'll get it back in a few more months. i gotta go.
