Nice!! I'm guessing you're not a newb at painting guitars. I have the bro of your "hot wheels" in hum/single with a rosewood neck.

I would have continued the checkerboard under the pickguard area just because there is more space to the edge around that side now. Otherwise, it looks great.

That came out great. The matching case puts it over the top!

Cool, I like the progress pix. I would have never figured out to do it that way!

Here are masking instructions for painting... Pretty simple but it takes a while...

LOL! I guess I should have been more specific. Did you scuff up the paint on the existing finish and paint over it? Also, what types of paint did you use.

I've been wanting to "add" something to my "boring" guitars.

                        Thanks.

Oh.. Yeah, I sanded the body so the base coat of white would stick. I wasn't going for the total strip to bare wood, re-seal and prime deal. I figured since the base coat was going to be white it would give me a nice surface to start with. After the color coats and clear I let it dry for a month then wet sanded and polished it. I used auto lacquer available at any auto parts store. If you're starting from bare wood you want to make sure you seal and prime before the color coat. You may even want to consider nitrocellulose lacquer it cures and dries harder than the auto lacquer. It takes forever! If you pm me your email address I can forward you pdf book that has some good info.. I don't follow it to the letter but its definitely worth a read.

Bit odd I thought with the gold hardware contrasting the black bridge, but stellar job never the less.
