Gary Moore and Charvel/Jackson

I thought I'd start an appreciation thread for Gary Moore in particular his peak years in 1986-89 when he actively used Charvel's and Jackson's ,oore rarely.
Here is a clip from his last rock tour of the rock era then, not to be revisited until 2010.
This is the earlier Charvel San Dimas that previously had a maple board neck and body colored Strat head stock.
For this tour it had a rosewood board Jackson logoed Strat head neck:

Don't think so mate!
I know what guitar it is and it is the previous Charvel renecked, probably the only neck they could get was a Jackson.
If there is one guitarist I know it's Gary Moore!

I know what guitar it is and it is the previous Charvel renecked, probably the only neck they could get was a Jackson.

After 1986 they stopped making Charvel stratheads completely. The Charvel brand became import only. Some time after this they released a whole bunch of replacement Strat "woodburn" necks, both logo'd and non logo'd. After this point, I'm only aware of strathead Jacksons that were built by the factory, though there were probably a handful of backdoor Charvels. I don't remember exactly who was asked, but sometime around 2003-2004 either DW, MS or TW was asked how many stratheads were built with Jackson logos. The total number of factory Jackson stratheads between 1982-2002 was guesstimated at about 60. I'm not sure when the overall profile actually changed from classic Charvel/Jackson to Fender, but judging by non-US market Charvels, the headstock shape changed in the late 90's...

That perfromance on the UK's Whistle Test show was one of the main reasons I always wanted a Charvel. I had the opportunity to ask someone very close to Gary if he still had that guitar a few years back and he said he had, but it hadn't been out live for a long time.

Just remember, Gary was an early endorser of Charvel and Jackson, if he needed anything I'm sure Grover made sure Gary received anything he needed.
