So we are about 4 shows in on the Idol tour. Couldn't be happier with the Matrix stuff. This is the first tour i have brought out my Suhr (Josie) Modern. This guitar sounds amazing. I did have it fitted with a huge brass floyd block as well as a thick brass claw from www.killerguitarcomponents.com. Playing a Knaggs guitar as well this tour. Very cool single cut style..sounds a lil' more modern then a Les Paul...def more top & bottom.There are no plans for Billy idol to hit Australia this year, but it looks very likely that i will do Asia with Rock & Roll All Stars, then head down under for a series of clinics. Early stages right now, but i am doing everything in my power to see it happen. As for what's in my rack pedal drawers...currently
Proco Rat duo-used only once a show for the middle of Rebel Yell
Moog Ring Mod
Lenders Vibe (really nice univibe style)
Joe Meek Compressor pedal (amazing)
MXR 10 band eq (mids bumped up and gain at about 10db...for solos,,,was modded by some guy for more headroom)
Way Huge Pork Loin (sometimes for solos)
MXR script phase 90 (mid 70's) haven't stepped on it once this tour ha ha.
Roland Slicer (locked to midi time code, lot's of fun)
Paradox TZF (in the loop of the Suhr amp....instant Jimi)

I found a recent video of him playing a Charvel axe live. It does look very similar to his Suhr model with the addition of the truss rod adjustment at the bottom of the neck ala EVH.

Nah, it's a little push on/off button by the volume knob that basically directly wires the bridge humbucker to the output. No volume or tone in the path.

Seems like a good idea.

I posted that rig rundown video on Rig Talk forum also and Guthrie says it's a prototype and he didn't realize what a Internet 'buzz' was all about.
As far as being contracted to Charvel he did not say, but it doesn't really matter, he still mentioned his Suhrs.

sounds like an easy mod. But what's the point?

Well, you can have the volume backed off and on the neck pickup to clean up the sound and when it comes to the solo and you want full bore, you hit the switch and it switches to the bridge pup wide open. Back to clean, just hit the switch again. Saves you from having to adjust the volume and switch pickups at the same time.

Plus the cork sniffers will tell you a direct wired pickup will sound 23% better.
