Its fairly possible that Guthrie is one of the best overall guitar players in the world. He can play any style perfectly.

Looks like one of the music zoo Koa with a cooked neck guitar. Dont need to buy a GG sig charvel to get that.

I'm glad to see they have GG as a new Charvel endorser but they need to fix the problem at the factory. They could have 50 monster player endorsements but it doesn't mean shit when they aren't moving guitars out the door.

I agree spending $2500 - $3500 on a guitar and then wait 1.5 - 2 years for it? I think not. You also have the very real possibility that what they try to deliver to you is not exactly what you ordered. I also just cant get on with the whole coffee table looking Charvel vibe.

He has 3 different Suhr models but none of them have any koa on them. You might be thinking of the Reb Beach, which is solid koa.

If it's like his Suhr, then probably solid koa.

As far as the Suhr Guthrie models go, we sell more of his first GG model. Mahogany with flamed maple top and bolt on mahogany neck with pau ferro fretboard.

GG is quite possibly the best guitarist I've ever seen, and I've seen most of the Guitar Greats. This would be cool if it is true. I wonder if he'll have a basswood or Mahogany guitar. Matt- Which model Suhr sells better? Do you have any preference?

Anyway, awesome news if it's true.

Well believe it! I just found out 3 days ago oddly enough after he played his first gig with it.
It didn't have anything whatsoever to do with displeasure in our instruments. He was very happy with the gear.
I wish him the best, he is a very talented musician and deserves success.
We will continue to offer the models and features he played just sans any signature.

Also, I read this:

He touched a bit on the guitar in the masterclass yesterday.
It's a koa body with a roasted maple neck with a slightly elongated trussrod AND some graphite stuff in the neck (ala vigier). He cited the conditions of different stage setups and temperatures as to why that aspect was important to him.

Hearing people talk to him afterwards it was obvious that he wasn't too keen to go into details as to why he switched (understandably) and I was somewhat bewildered that the one chance people had to ask the guy something in person they choose to talk about gear..

well, that's cool. seems that charvel grabbed themselves exactly what they need for a higher profile. i think it is funny that all the dudes in the gearpage post think charvel sucks and it is a downgrade from suhr....

Still, interesting information. Not a fan of Guthrie (don't really know who he is even), but glad to see another player make the jump.
