Apparently that has been already taken care of here.
I have apologized to Mike, this is between me and him and I will refrain from speculating what goes on at Charvel as I really have as much an idea as anyone else here.
I have had only good things to say about Mike McGregor and he has helped me out immensely personally, again I made a grave mistake in judgment and ask to be forgiven.
    Thanks
    Dave

Great Player/Instructor..don't like a single piece of music he's done...boring!

That kinda looks like my '95 Koa SD-II

          Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Secret or not there is no love lost between Charvel and say GMW, also Suhr for some strange reason.
John Suhr is very honest and was helpful to me as he could be.
I must keep some things to myself of course.
Too bad that Fender Custom Shop isn't involved with helping out Jackson/Charvel Custom Shop. Fender's shop has a long wait but nothing like Jackson/Charvel??
Music Zoo move so many guitars that Tommy there can get special runs made in a reasonable amount of time, but there are reasons behind the scenes why it's the way it is.
FMIC/Jackson/Charvel want to sell new guitars all day of course, but with such a rich history, they are in my opinion ignoring their rich past with the exception of the past Legacy series...
John Suhr will pretty much build what a guitarist wants, but the guitars don't excite me in any way.
John told me he has a neck digitizer that cost $20K and even offered use of it to me.
I have nothing but good to say about John.
Grover is a good guy too.
If Guthrie wants to use Charvel's more power to him.Aesthetically Charvel Strat heads appeal to me more than say a Suhr Modern, but that's my choice.
A great player chooses what suits him the best at a certain time, we don't know the whole background story, but if it is at all like many of those from the eighties and nineties that I uncovered then it it may have it's roots in something we will never know..

I think when it comes to Guthrie this is strictly a money thing. I would imagine that the money isn't rolling in from his Suhr/Cornford endorsement deals, lessons and he has no hit records or tours. He is just a monster of a player. He is the type of player that only other guitar players know about. My guess is this is a grab some money thing. Good for him.
IMHO... the only difference between a high end Charvel and a Suhr is the price. Quality and playability wise, it doesn't get much better than a well built Charvel.

Somehow, I highly doubt they are paying him.

Not a chance. He is getting paid and I am sure it was a sweet deal. I am now waiting to see what amp manufacturer he switches to because Cornford can't be paying him much. This is how monster players like Guthrie who aren't in popular bands make a living. Endorsements, conventions and private lessons/intructional videos.

I don't believe Guthrie Govan is was playing Cornford for a while, I think he was using a Suhr Badger in 2011 anyway (Premier Guitar dot com gig videos for the win!).

I've had him here for a few clinics. He prefers his Cornford but will use a Badger if the Cornford isn't available. And yeah... he's absolutely being paid.

Good move by Charvel. Those naturals look great. I tried one last year at the Music Zoo, and I would have liked to buy one, but I thought they were too expensive for what they are.

Guthrie sure is Christ-like. The white man version!

Matt, while I'm sittin' listening to Circle II Circle...please, tell him I said this.

                          Love,

Wow. This will stir up lots of controversy ! I will have to go to the Gear Page and defend Charvel now.

"the only difference between a high end Charvel and a Suhr is the price. Quality and playability wise, it doesn't get much better than a well built Charvel."
I don't know about the ONLY difference. Suhrs are pleked and such. But I have to agree with you that it does not get any better than a well built Charvel when it comes to playability.

Whenever I have gone into a guitar store nothing in it has a neck that compares to the feel of a Charvel and I have made direct comparisons with the Suhr 22 and 24 fret models. Suhr are fantastic guitars no question. To me it is just a matter of preference for the feel of the neck on a Charvel. The Suhrs feel sterile to me for lack of a better word.

OK over to the Gear Page to start some trouble.

Now just hold on hyah nah. Jesus was a white man. A white man who looked like a golden haired Nascar driver with a translucent chest.
                              I've seen the portraits.

Guthrie is a top man and possibly second only to Paul Gilbert in skill.
Actually played that fretless Vigier with him at a guitar show too. The strings are basically printed onto the neck. Lowest action ever.

I'm not a sig guitar guy so i'm not really interested in getting whatever it is Charvel will be making in his name but good luck to him and Charvel.
Suhrs are amazing but Guthrie would make a piece of shit Schecter sing. Charvel will definitely sell a ton of guitars in his name and yes of course he's being paid.
All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

I played Suhr, I played high end Charvel and Jackson. Both are incredible. Guthrie is going for the cash. I bet if Suhr matched Charvel's offer he would have stayed but its probably really hard to compete with a company that large.
I am stoked about it and usually I could care less.
