Just looking back at your initial post, Dan's initials and date are usually hidden in the markings of the cross bones. Mine has Dan's and Glenn's initials (lower right hand bone) as did a few others that I've seen. Double check yours - would be curious to see if he's stopped doing that.

Just to let you know...virtually all of these De Martini's are painted in house at DRL graphics by Glenn Matejzel, not Dan Lawrence.

That's not a bad thing either!!

Glenn (not Dan) painted ALL of Warren's original guitars with the exception of the 'Frenchie' who is unknown.

So if your graphic is not signed by Dan, then iit is done by the original artist Glenn, as he does not sign his work.

*EDIT* Here's the old Pirate (Glenn) at NAMM 2013 a few days ago....kneeling front left.

Hmmm, I missed this thread. The blood drip skulls is my favorite Warren model, followed by the bomber. Congrats on that one!

Thanks Curt and Johnny. Glenn did a good job hiding those initials in the crossbones. I never would have seen that without you telling me, and a magnifying glass was helpful too.

Here's a pic, surprised it came out this good. This is with a cell phone camera looking through the magnifying glass. So Glenn painted it, working for DRL, hence DRL.GM

Went back and watched the old 1984 Round and Round video where Warren was playing the blood/skull guitar. Did anyone realize that the blood/skull guitar in the Round and Round video had a POINTY headstock ??? LOL.

Then here we go a number of years back, before Carlos Cavazo joined the band, with Corabi, and most likely before this USA Charvel series and the guitar has a strat headstock:

Anybody know more on this one ? What it was originally? What it became over the years ?

                  LOL. Yes!

                  Funny you should ask.

This has been a topic of conversation a few times over the years.

I got the straight dope from Glenn Matejzel at NAMM and will be sharing the story in the 'Tales From The Shop' thread soon!

Awesome guitars. I had all four! The Skull was probably my favorite of the four - it just had "it". The Crossed Swords graphic was my fave for many reasons, but the Skull felt the best of them all.

                        Congrats!

I noticed that in the vid too, but never saw what the logo was. I assume it was a gold CHarvel - actually, what else would it be? I'll have to go back and watch it again.

                            Time for some detective work.

Answer: There were NO Charvel or Jackson logos on the headstock !!!!

Nice work Lepard - I watched and it goes by too dang fast. He must have been experimenting with different neck shapes? Or it broke on tour and they rushed it.

There's a cool story as to how Warren got his blood drip guitar as Glenn Matejzel painted it for him as a surprise and brought it to one of there shows. Hellraiser probably knows it better and has more details. From what I know about the original specs, it had a pointy headstock (I've never heard confirmation that it is actually a Charvel neck though but always thought it was). Check out the thread asking about Robbin's white Rhoads that he was playing back in '83. You can also see Warren playing the blood drip with this pointy headstock in that video too.

I had also heard a story that Warren cracked the neck while shooting the R&R video. Would love find out if there is any truth to that. But in Ratt's follow up video "Back For More" the neck is swapped out for a maple strahead. Maybe Glenn or Dan can fill in some of the missing details or confirm any of the stories out there about this guitar.
