Had but one dealing with Ed when he wanted a rare-ish Hamer Scarab I was selling. He low-balled an offer and when I said, "thanks but no thanks," he got huffy. Tried a few tactics to convince me to sell to him for his price. Eventually, I hung up.

Had a similar incident when he tried to trade me an original Jimmy Page Les Paul (the one from the mid-90's) for my Rhoads LTD. He got huffy when I asked him to sweeten the deal and lectured me on what was collectible (Page) and what wasn't (Rhoads). I let him know that I own what I like, not what I think will go up in value, that I basically hated collectors, and that he could either meet my asking price or move along since I was in the drivers seat. He seemed to respect that and we got along well afterward, although he tried several times over the years to get that guitar (as well as my Rands).

The character Dan Halen reminds me of Ed. This is on the Cartoon Network Adult Swim show SQUIDBILLIES. The main character (squid) is voiced by Unknown Hinson. I read a lot of Ed's rants in the past, though the Grover interview from around 1982 pulls no punches either.
I never thought his celebrity guitars were all that. One receives what one gives.
