So Jake's featured in this month's GW. No word on the Charvie sig model. However, I noticed something funky in the pics of the guitar he's holding. The bridge has two different types of saddles on it. The lower three strings have the more vintage style "bent" saddles, and the three higher strings have the more modern Fender saddle design. Weird.

I'm also surprised Jake isn't doing what he did with his ESP sig and having 1- 12 frets jumbo and then 13- 22 smaller.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Thanks for clearing that up. That makes sense. I was reading some mumbo jumbo about the original whitey Fender neck having been re-boarded with a different scale length board and fretted the way I said. See I find this hard to imagine as I look at the original and it looks like a 7.25" radius and has the bridge and nut in the normal place, maybe they refretted it with taller frets and added a slight compound radius but that would be about it to me it seems. You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.

Yes, that's true about the ESP having the shorter scale, I forgot about that. DCGL actually still has a Custom Shop model in stock.

Jeez, I just saw the pricing from the TMZ website. The Jake seems especially expensive (compared to the Warren or even the Guthrie) given there's no fancy wood or graphic:
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Here's an old thread talking about one of his custom Jacksons.
