  • Newer production Charvel San Dimas style 2s

The teles! How many of you have or have had one? I've been dyin for a Charvel tele and I'd love to hear your opinions on these. Or the San dimas model in general, as I assume the only difference is the body shape.

Also, how much could I expect to pay for one these days? I see em new on ebay for 800-900, but I feel like I could get lucky with a 600 dollar deal.

I doubt you will find one for that price. Some have said that the teles had the best tone out of the 3.

I just wish they had used the tele headstock on those or a pointy.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

My Black USA Tele (Style 2) is by far the best tone producer and weirdly the most comfortable. But, it's probably the most badly made.

Neck pocket is way overangled so the floyd sits almost 1/3"+, almost 1/2" off the body and the trem cavity looks to have filler all around it, judging by the dimples in the black gloss paint (You know those ones you get when you badly feather bondo on a car, or try and apply it over paint), or perhaps it just was overly hand sanded and not block sanded. Also the headstock is slightly off, a little too small and cut too deep.

But it's a great reasonant guitar and sustains forever and the neck is nice.

Yeah a Mick Mars Pointy look would be cool, but tele headstocks....euuuw!

In fact, thanks for the idea, I think I'II repaint it pink with spider webs and put a pointy on it and use the neck on something else, as I prefer strats and hate black. It's a great body but the prep for the paint must have been fairly shonky.

You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.
