If I'm following the debate correctly (maybe not), it goes like this..

The '05 and later pointyheads were made in the J/C USA custom shop. These were full-on custom jobs, although many were done for dealer stock like regular poduction guitars. Think like Jackson USA Selects.

The USA ProMods (stratheads with 6 digit plates) were true production guitars, made on the Fender assembly line. The pre-pro ProMods were also made on the Fender line, but got 4 digit Charvel custom serial plates because the 6 digit plates weren't yet available.

Okay. So then my '05 pointyhead Star was a Custom Shop after all. I don't remember any indication of that, though.

Yes, it was. It likely had a 4 digit serial number, just like any custom shop Charvel. Although a few of the early pointy reissues had the etched neck plates like the mid-90s USA Charvels.

            Confusing, ain't it? LOL

Very confusing! Mine did have a 4-digit serial on a plate similar to the one in this thread. I traded the guitar to Stuka... wonder if he still has it.

Jackson said the 05 pointy were C/S, but really what do they know.lol
I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.
