  • 1982 Charvel EVH

Wel'l, I've received many offline questions lately on this guitar, so I thought I'd post it here in all its naked glory, for everyone to enjoy and fire at will!

The lowdown as far as I am concerned:

    - this is a 1982 Charvel EVH B+Y in very near mint condition (no fretwear, no noticeable flaws on the body, some discoloration - most would call it "patina" - on the neck).

    - it appears to be in 100% original, unmolested condition.

    - it looks, plays and sounds great! As some of you know, one of the main deal breakers for me is the presence of so-called strudtural dead spots: well, this guitar sustains beautifully on all strings, on every fret. This is rare, at least in my experience and especially on bolt-on guitars with a relatively low mass in the body/neck joint.

    - there has been some debate in the past as to some neck issues: I don't know if these were fixed since, or whether it was simply a matter of adjusting the truss rod, but I can positively certify that this neck is perfectly straight, with a hair of relief for proper playability in the mid section, and no bumps or twists anywhere.

So, without further ado, here she is:

I'm surprised that more of the sharpie hadn't transferred to the neck. On almost every older bolt on Jackson and Charvel I've owned, the sharpie applied to the neck pocket has almost always transferred identically onto the heel of the neck, enough so that it's like a mirror image fingerprint...

I'll explain this further in case the image alone doesn't.

If you look at the neck pocket, you'll see that the edge is blackened out with a permanent marker. This is very typical of Charvel and Jackson bolt ons.

Look at the neck. You'll see a mirror image of that permanent marker bleed into the wood. This is also very typical of Charvel and Jackson bolt ons.

So, any time I see a neck pocket that has been hit with a marker, the neck heel will usually become stained with that same pattern. If I don't see this, I question if the neck is original to the body. That's just me. :p

But yeah, I'll give ya... if the plate checks out with the big guys, then it's all good. Or something. lol

                      Example:
