  • Guthrie Govan's specific setup

I have a Govan Signature Charvel coming in the mail. I'm excited but also pretty nervous. I've never bought a guitar without first playing it. That always seem nuts to me, because there's so much variance between guitars, even of the same make/model. But there was no other way to get this guitar, so here I am.

Does Charvel published their factory setup specs for guitars? Better yet, does anyone know how Govan specifically has this guitar setup? I'm ready to buy some feeler gauges and dial this thing in, but I first need to know what I'm targeting.

Thanks for any info you can share.

There is no real 'right' setup. A setup is a compromise. Set it up for how you like to play. Some people prefer their fretboards flat, others prefer a more classic bow. Some people like that action as low as it can go, others like it around 3-3.5mm at the 24th for more sustain.

My son has a GG. He loves it.

There are several GG specd Charvels. The specs online will be for this year. So if you bought used, there may be some variation from the 2018 specs. As an example, my sons has a birdseye top...
