the only thing better would be dave and eddie getting back together.

      Yeah.
I am. I don't know enough about them to be stoked yet.
Once I get to try one my opinion may change.
Have to admit that a pointy headstock maple board with s/h and a flushmounted floyd would be nice. But the jury is still out.

LOL, I think Eddie and Alex have done enough jinx-ing on that one...

I think that ol' Diamond Dave has also done a pretty good job of making his exile permanent (would be nice though - I was pretty psyched when they "tricked us" a few years back with that one song to sell the greatist hits - not that it worked on me - but I would have paid to go to the show).

Re: anyone less than \"stoked\" about the new charv

I'm a little apprehensive about the new Charvels.
I honestly don't think there is a sizeable market for these guitars.
When the GXP Bullseye reissue took over 1 year to sell 30 guitars and over 1/2 of those were flipped soon after their owners bought them, it kind of threw up a warning flag for me.
I don't think that EVH putting some masking tape on some bodies is going to sell a bunch of product.
I bought into the Hype when they announced that they would be USA again, but more I think about it, the less I like the idea.
Here's to hoping that I'm wrong.

I heard on the news the other day that Dave was moving to New York and was going to be a volunteer EMT a few days a month. Anyone else hear that one?

I played a 25th anniversary today. It was nice but felt
a little more like a Fender neck than an old Charvel.
                    I liked it, though.

Re: anyone less than \"stoked\" about the new charv

I hardly ever get "stoked" about anything at my age, but I'm about as close as I can get with the new Charvel line. They may not set the world on fire, sales-wise, but at least they're truer to the Charvel name than we've seen in many years.

As for DLR and EVH, we're probably better off with 'em not getting back together. I'm sure it couldn't live up to our expectations.

I am pretty excited to see what they come up with. I was tempted on the 25th Anniversary models, but I wasn't sure what to expect. Plus it wasn't exactly what I wanted and for that price I kind of felt is should be. Two humbuckers might have sealed the deal for me. Part of the problem with making Charvels again is that the thrill of the hunt is gone. Of course the real 80's models will always have an edge due to be the originals.

I have to disagree with Pulverizer. I do think that Ed striping them (and now we've learned he's playing the guitars that are going into the auctions) will make them desirable, and they'll have no problem selling such a low number of instruments.

These will (hopefully) not all go to collectors. With the first two over $5K and 9 days left in the auctions, people will get used to seeing the high prices, and there will be no shortage of people paying serious coin for these.

And I have to agree with RP - Dave/Ed would have a hard time living up to our expectations - but it would be glorious no doubt anyway.

I would really like to play one. I don't know if I'd say I'm stoked though. I just wonder if any of the stores around here will even carry them. There's not even a SL1 close by here.

dave and ed would meet the expectations. listen to the two
tunes they recorded for the best of album released back in the mid 90's. they both smoke sammy fronted tunes.
they are both magic together, like charvies in general.
