Re: New Star in town

Yea.
On the web, it says no longer available.
I wouldn't feel comfortable with that strap pin location.
And the high E string is too far from the edge of the fretboard.
I could almost put another string to make it 7string guitar.
The problem there is the neck pocket is smaller than the neck.
The neck end is much wider.
See the first pic.
I am sure the neck came from another San Dimas Guitar.

Re: New Star in town

I'm sure Newc will correct that...no sorry, he will change that neck problem in no time

Another thing, that knob on the side of the neck at the 9th fret.... is that for adjusting the inlays?

you have good eyes..
That could be for adjusting the truss rod.
A new style.

Re: New Star in town

Intonation adjuster - that's a problem fret

Ok it's here - I was headed for the shower to go to work and I heard the truck.
So, initial observations:
-No body bevels
-HEAVY birdseye on the neck and head
-Thinner fretboard, not a slab
-Kahler nut is definitely an aftermarket mod
-It did have a Kahler on it at one point, and for quite some time according to the impressioin in the clear (like on my DM King V Pro).
-Poorly cut trem recess.
-Added neck hummer
-The strings are NOT that off - those pics are off-axis (probably to reduce flash glare) and show the strings almost a 1/4" to the side. Such is not the case. Yes, the Floyd posts are crooked, and yes the strings are off-center, but it appears to be a problem with the nut as well (slight overhang on the bass side).
-One SD strap pin, the other is a replacement (gold)
-Square jackplate, just like my Shattered Glass Star
-Plastic control cavity cover (SD route, but the cover is an obvious replacement - looks hand-cut and jagged)
-Added mini-toggle (for pickup select obviously)
-No gold/brass on the neck plate - all silver and black and worn.
-Frets look new.
-I can see the outline of the decal under the clearcoat - die cut.

I'll take all the pics - and take the neck off - when I get in tomorrow morning.
