  • The original or initial Star body design

I'm in serious Star mode at the moment and all kinds of questions pops up in my little head. It's regarding the initial Star's that were produced.

Am i right that the backside had no body contours at all?

Am i right that the area where the neckplate attaches, were thick and level with the rest of the back of the body - no recess here?

Am i right that the frontmost strapbutton were placed directly on the neckplate?

What neck did they come with - Strathead i suppose? 22 fret with squareish heel or 21 round heel?

Which older year model are the new Charvel Star's aiming at? It surely can't be the initial models, eh?

      1. First Star was EVH's hacking of an Explorer - no rear bevels on the Explorer, so probably no rear bevels on the first Stars (have to see the back of his Dano-necked one to be sure).

      2. The slanted neck heel didn't come in until the imports, AFAIK.

Th star I had was #1047 or something low like that. It had the contour, the plate was not recessed, and the strap button was on the plate. It was a strat head, but the neck was gone when I got it so I don't have info about the neck. Seems pretty consistent with what the others have posted.
