Just picked this up today. A huge thanks to Mike at NY Music for getting this awesome guitar:

I have a question about the serial number,
is it a continuation of the old numbers, the date it was made, or a new system alltogether?


this guitar is incredible. The neck feels like my old strathead parts mutt. FMIC got these right.

I believe they picked up the serial #s about where they left off. (6000)
I thought they were going to have 3D plates on those???

If they were going to do the limited edition of Retro, they should have gotten the 3D plates to make it even better...

Is the neck identical to the Charvel 25th model? Has anyone noticed that the Charvel 25th fret inlay markers are identical to the Fender 50th anniv. production model?

Waitaminnit - is that a production "San Dimas" model Charvel (Strat-style) with the "San Dimas" headstock? Or is that some Custom one-off with a Strathead?

And is your camera crapping out or are the rings really jagged like that?

the guitar plays great. the neck is WAY different than the 25th. it doesnt feel like a fender, its wide and thin but not pointy-head thin. As far as comparison to old ones, I have an old strathead parts mutt that is my main and favorite guitar(that I just got back form the paint shop):


and the necks feel extremely similar. i guess the photo is kind of distorted, the lines are sharp and clean. the pickup is similar to the 'evh' i have in my other strathead, but its a maple body so the tone is slightly different. as far as the neckplate, NY music has a new custom shop charvel with the same style neckplate so I think the 3d plates may have been just speculation. thanks for the nice comments and a great forum.

I spoke to Mike today. He said there are 2 more coming. One is already accounted for, & I get first crack at the other. They should be here next week......but actually they all should have came when the first one did.
Mike did say that he thought they were putting them out rather slowly due to some problems they were having with the finish.
