No offense guys, but how relevent is a neckplate to the tone and playability of a guitar?

Us ageing '80s guys want everything IDENTICAL to how it was when we were 19. Even if the new plates are actually better made. Ideally it should be both better made & identical in appearance!

I know the Charvel people check this forum. Hopefully they see this and put the Mojo in. In regards to Chuck's post, if Charvel don't sell big, I guess I can get that red & white bullseye I need (not want I need it) for cheaper.

Well, I was kidding when I mentioned the neckplates, though I can see preferring the 3D neckplates.

Kind of reminds me how picky some guys got over the original Gibson re-issue LP's in the early '80's. I've read stories in "Vintage Guitar" mag about guys measuring the size and shape of the letters in the Gibson logo.

Les Paul guys are that way now with long neck tenons, contoured binding in the cutaway, logos, and all kinds of other stuff.

This is not a Charvel thing or even a guitar thing. It is an enthusiast thing.

Why bother with the neckplate, when you can have MOJO himself!!

While I think it's good that Charvel is back, I can't really see a decent sized market for them - for the money the average guitar buyer will look at what's available and decide he can get more bang for his buck elsewhere.....
I still want one though, but just question if there are enough people like me to support a whole guitar line.

OK, back to the GMW vs. Charvel thing. Here's a question that I've been wondering about.......... price! We all know GMW blows away Charvel in the bang-for-the-buck dept but here's what I've been wondering about:

The new price increase! It wasn't long ago that FMIC raised all custom shop prices 20%(first of this year if I'm thinking correctly). Now they have a 5% increase on imports and a 10% increase on USA models. My question is..... does this 10% increase apply to Custom Shop models that they already increased by 20% just 9 months ago? If so, that's effectively a 32% price increase in just 9 months. If that's the case...... I say fu(k em.
