IIRC, the last USA price increase was at least two years ago, possibly three. Yes, they did increase the prices on Jackson USA Selects with Summer NAMM '04. But, considering how long it has been since the last increase, that was arguably reasonable IMHO. I don't recall custom ordered Jacksons going up in January, but I suppose that is possible. [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] But I don't believe custom Jackson pricing has changed since then.

As to Charvels, when they introduced the new USA line at Winter NAMM '04, I believe they actually lowered the starting price for a custom Charvel bolt-on. However, they also made some options a little more expensive. So, in the end, it was probably a wash for the "average" custom order. (...If there is such a thing. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] ) And the prices for the Charvel USA Standards and customs have stayed the same since.

There was definitely a 20% increase on Custom Shop orders at the beginning of the year. I remember this well as I was speaking with Kevin Easton about it and contemplating having a custom built.

Yes, you are right, there hasn't been an increase in USA Select prices in years. My question applies only to "Custom Shop" orders. Still wondering if the 10% increase in USA models applies to Custom Shop orders too.

OK......... OUCH, just confirmed it. The USA price increase effective with Summer NAMM was 15% and this does apply to anything coming out of the USA Shop, including Custom Shop orders. Kevin Easton just confirmed all this for me. So, what that means is that in the past 9 months, a USA Custom Shop Jackson or Charvel has gone up 38% !!! while the USA Selects have gone up 15%

I thought 15% was acceptable while they haven't raised their prices for a while but 38%...
That's like they are not willing to take any custom orders but only if you are willing to pay what they want.

That is not correct. I'm looking right at the 2004 and 2004.5 Charvel custom shop price lists, and bolt-on guitars start at exactly the same list price - $2,500. And, with a couple of minor exceptions, none of the option prices changed, either.

I suppose it's possible that they changed Jackson custom shop pricing differently than for Charvels. (Not sure, as no Jackson custom shop pricing is included in either Jackson price lists.) But Charvel pricing - both customs and USA Standards - has definitely not changed.

The Jackson custom shop pricing has been different. A bolt-on Jackson, for example, starts at $2,880 on the custom shop quote form on the Jackson website.

I self-priced a Charvel custom shop and Jackson custom shop using the Charvel price list and the Jackson quote form and even with the same chosen options, the Jackson was $320 more. If there has been an additional 15% increase in prices for the Jackson custom shop beyond what the quote form spits out, the Jackson would run over $800 more than the Charvel despite being essentially the same guitar.

Bolt on Starts at $2800(list price) is already way overpriced when GMW starts at somewhere $1000 or so to begin with.

GMW's are a better playing value per dollar vs. Jackson custom shop stuff possibly having a better dollar retention.
