  • When did production stop?

I've finally started reading up on USA Charvels, and I have a silly noob question.

I was looking through the 1987 sales brochure (provided, if memory serves me, by our own Mark "mm2002") and (duh) noticed that all the models listed are Models.

But I think (?) I've seen San Dimas Charvels that date to 86.

Was there ever a time when Model series guitars and USAs we made at the same time? Was it a switch, from one to the other? When?

I've enjoyed reading @ sandimascharvels.com and usacharvels.com, but I guess I missed the answers to the questions I'm asking here...

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Re: When did production stop?

There used to be a serial # chart for Charvels on the Jackson web-site, but it's no longer there. It had this tidbit which is helpful:
"The last Early Charvel was#5491, built in January of 1986. "

So unless the 1st Model series came out in January of 86, then it's unlikely that both were made at the same time.
"Your work is ingenius…it’s quality work….and there are simply too many notes…that’s all, just cut a few, and it’ll be perfect."

I think The San Dimas" models went into the middle of 86. While I'm not sure about production overlaps it's possible that there were new San Dimas charvels on the wall at the same time as the model series just because of how close producation times were. You also have to remember that the last charvels were kinda Hybrids .. they were charvels but they were Jackson logo'd

BTW I never understood that whole "The last Early Charvel was #5491, built in January of 1986. " as I have 5307 and she was built Jan of 86 ... Tracy could probably elaborate more as he has later work orders to go off of.. just seems like 5307 to 5491 is a big jump in less than a month
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~
