Re: Help me decide/New Charvel
None I can think of. Mahogany's a great wood (duh), but I guess people are so used to seeing it used on set-neck and neckthrough guitars.
Either way, it's gonna be heavy, so all that's left to decide is what one you're going for - mahogany is darker, maple is brighter.

Re: Help me decide/New Charvel
I prefer Mahogany. My PC1 is a bolt on Mahogany and I love the tone I get out of it. I wouldnt say that mahogany is "darker" but more warmer I think is a better way to describe it.
I am spec'ing out a custom charvel and I am going with Mahogany. BTW...does anyone wonder why the big price difference between the Jackson Custom Prices and the Charvel Custom Prices?

I can imagine because Charvels are Bolt on.
If you compare to Jackson Neck thru prices, there are $400-500 difference.

Please me that you meant that the Charvels Bolt on are cheaper than the Jackson Neck-thru.

I was talking more about the price of a Jackson Bolt-on starting out at $2880 vs a Charvel (Bolt-on) Starting out at $2500.

Re: Help me decide/New Charvel
I just placed an order for a charvel strat, mahogany with a flame maple cap. The mahogany is an upcharge, but well worth it with maple!!!! Interestingly, there are various tops available: flame veneer (no charge), 1/8" (up charge), and 3/4" (upcharge). I was told 9 months.
