I promised you guys on Jcf I would post some pics for you,
here they are, along with my first impressions,
(sorry to my bros on CC, this is the same review I wrote for you too, eventhough most of us are on both forums, some are not)
it finally just came in!
the wait was agonizing!
here are the pics and my first impressions right away, as the new owner of the Original 84 Holdsworth #3223 - ex Tim Rose's- , as you may have recognized, this is the one that is in the Gallery.
ok, here are my first impressions:
1 word: MONSTER TONE
unreal, I mean truly UNREAL.
my favorite rock guitar is 1 humbucker in the bridge,
and that's 75% of my collection is 1 humb. guitars,
I've owned well over a hundred desirable guitars over the years,
and even one of Allan Holdsworth 's personal axes which I regret selling already but that's another story (sounded great but looked funny, err headless),
and this has the greatest TONE I've heard thus far of any guitar
this one takes the Tone Cake, it should be called Tonesworth, not Holdsworth!
the frets are in great shape, everything is very cool and unique on a Holdsworth: fun looking reflective red sides nut, dimarzio trem steel block only this model has that bridge, and it is very resonant and works great, the tuners work great, the guitar is very resonant, even unplugged, I mean LOUD UNPLUGGED (!)
it is not in perfect condition though -I guess you know by now I'm a stickler for mint -still trying to live with the dings and dents all around the body edge, and typical finish check around the neck pocket, which I understand is normal for charvels, but I guess I'm a picky guy.
oh, and the big neck is a little much for my small hands (1.75 in wide nut, even wide heel width, and big man's frets), see the pics, this is a rock super highway.
sorry my mind is running too fnast to make a great detailed lengthy review, but one last funny tidbit:
on the neck pocket you can barely make out where it reads below the work order: "Willie Boy" and some other unreadable stuff.
anyone else has "Willie Boy" in the neck pocket, or know what to make of it?
