Re: First-ever USA pointy?
Nope. That's what makes me think it's a refin, or as you say a not-C/J body (Kramer? DiMarzio? Boogie? recent Warmoth?)
I know that with Charvel being a Custom Shop you could get it done your way, but I was under the impression that SD Stars all had rear bevels. The Warmoth Star I had a while back didn't have bevels. I know someone coulda ordered it that way, but still...
It does have the SD control route (unlike Kramer's or Warmoth's long skinny route), non-recessed trem cavity cover (holes on top like the Lynch stuff), but flat-out no markings in the trem cavity, control cavity, or neck pocket
And being handmade, and being a fairly small company, I'm sure there were a few that left the factory with minor flaws like that - maybe it was an employee project? Maybe the Star was originally a Strathead and someone wanted the original neck on their Strat and put the pointy on the Star, but the necks weren't identical?
I dunno - lots of variables.
I suppose I could email Elderly and have them have the guy they got it from contact me and maybe I can trace it back through the years, but would anyone along the chain be willing to help (or would they remember?)
