Re: Will Charvel History Repeat Itself?? (Neckplates)

It's not the neck plate that is holding me back, it is the price. For what I can sink into a new one I can find a clean original SD pointy or a sweet strathead player/ parts guitar. No contest there. If the new market picks up only history will tell us if these will be sought after collectables. If Charvel falters again yes I think they will be highly sought after because of how few have been made. If they gain a foothold and continue manufactoring them and growing the line I don't see them becoming high dollar collectable guitars like their SD name sakes. As Chuck has pointed out the originals represet an era. The new ones are just good looking guitars.

      Nope.

The main thing that makes the original Charvels so desirable was the era in which they were around. A new breed of music was exploding and it was a very exciting time. This present day lust after those guitars reflects both the era and a desire to visit bygone times.
While the guitars are strong enough themselves to warrant the respect today, there is nothing going on to forever link the new guitars to a special era.

That about sums it up for me. Well put Chuck..
