  • A Surprise for me

So I bought a parts guitar.
What looks to be a Charvel Model series neck on some kind of Kramer body going from the available pics.
    see attached pics.

(is there a way to have the pics and not just the links?)

    The good:
I get there to check it out and yes, it's a pointy headstock, but, not a Model series.
Pointy headstock with a gold label logo, and Made in U.S.A. and TM.
So I do some research and from what I have found it is likely a Charvel CS neck from the early-mid 80s
    Decal measures 2-1/2", so 83-85?
So can anybody confirm or deny my conclusion?
    The bad:
someone "trimmed" about 1/2" off of the point of the headstock!
    No idea why.

When using Imgur and you want to show the pics instead of the links, log into Imgur, click on your profile icon at the top right, click Images, click the image you want, and at the bottom right there's a menu of different preview sizes. Select the size you want, then click the Copy button to the right of BBCode. BBCode is the one that works for JCF.

              Close, Kramer Focus 1000. 84-87

I don't know what happened there.
But if you copy and paste it into your address bar it will take you to the pic.
I tried to copy the link just like the first post.
now it won't let me do anything but look at when I go there

Phantom Guitars used those Kramer bodies.
and their screwy headstocks would explain why someone may want to reshape it.

Did a little research, I do remember the logo with the ghost now that I've seen it again.
There are some similarities but the headstock has a sharper angle before it goes to the curve/point.

One source stated that the bodies and necks were made in Korea then shipped to New York where they were finished with Grovers, DiMarzios, Kahlers etc.
There is an interview done by Dick Clark with Phantom, Rocker and Slick where Earl Slick looks to be holding one.
Not a lot of information on them out there

Very little is written about Phantom Guitars.
In fact, I have a theory:

There are two main stories of their origins, they revolve around 2 different musicians, with two different time frames. And if you look, there is also two main body style eras. *See note below
So, I theorize that both stories are true, but something happened which caused the change of "ownership" (in those days, it was probably a poker game), who then changed the design.

You removed the pictures of your shaved headstock, so we will just have take your word for it.

                    *NOTE:
https://samick.fandom.com/wiki/Phantom has some basic information, but it is far from complete. In fact, I showed them a picture of the Kramer style bodies and they had never even seen them before.
Also note, the Phantom page for the Warlock styled guitar shows 3 different headstocks.

Who said anything about shaved? I said "trimmed" and really should have said "Sanded" as upon closer inspection that is what it appears to be.
You are assuming I removed my pictures and stating as fact that I did so.
                      I did not.
I do NOT have an account with imigur. They want my phone number. I don't want to give it to them. Therefore no account.
When I made the first posts the links worked without me having an account. I tried again for my second post and the links didn't work.
Now I can't access any of them.
                      I have NOTHING to hide.
I was looking for answers, not someone implying I was trying to hide something.
I will try resizing them and attaching

                      I don't get it.
I attach the pics, all resized to under 2mb, they show up in the box, I try to post and it says I'm not authorized to post attachments.
Why have an Upload Attachments button if you can't use it.

I will try to figure something else out.
