no doubt he (both) kick my ass...but they should, they're rock gods and i'm a dude that plays to 25 drunk bytches in a bar!! i would never assume that i am better than either guy.

BTW, those 7 ply Hondos are the shyt!! the playability of 5 ply hondos just aint' the same!!

and yeah, yngwie's house is bigger than mine, but mine is painted a better color, so ha-ha on him!!

at the end of the day (for me anyway) it appears that my personal (tongue in cheek) comments about YJM have been taken too seriously.

YES!!! i have finally arrived on the JCF

oh, by the way...if i bought an EVH (maybe the production model) it would be black and yellow, cause for me the red & white & black was the kramer. and yes i am aware that there was one of those with the regular strat body before the baretta...but still to me it's a kramer!!

Well, considering the accepted female/male ratio at metal shows, if you are playing to 25 biotches, then there are about 250 guys there as well.

You're doing ok for a bar band! Hehehe...

It's funny, because when I was in high school, I thought Yngwie was great. I think I would listen to him constantly. Along with my other normal rotation of course. I have a live bootleg video of Alcatrazz recorded on one of the two nights when Live Sentence was done. He was SICK! He never progressed at all. And yeah, that was funny him in G3. I guess better him than Michael Angelo! lol.

Well ****... If i was a millionaire it would be pocket change for me to pick up a couple of these bad boys. And as much as I love Van Halen and what hes done for guitar is irrelavent to the fact that thats a ton of cash for a frikkin guitar. Yeah sure he stripped them; cool and each one is differant and unique and they are Charvels. However I do get that it's somethign that EVH has stripped himself and it does have a possably huge investment value to it. But then again rediculous price or not is all relative to what some one is willing to pay for something like this. For me its way out of my budget. I wouldnt mind having one however or at least a reasonable faximily. ( and i dont mean a faxed copy on a piece of paper). :P
I just picked up a Lotus B/W graphic for 50bucks and the eck is awesome and it sounds great. Just wish it was solid wood and had a vintage style trem instead of the kahler copy.
Oh well for 50 bucks i guess i cant complain; the guitar is mint.

Re: Van Halen Charvels

You could have a few nice GMW's, Waynes, Jackson custom shops, AND Charvel San Dimas axes for the used car purchase prices some people are duped into paying for these supposed "smart investments". VH is 20+ years after their peak and it seems ridiculous for people to go ape **** over these. Is it really worth taking a second mortgage out for? these are not for normal income people, hell these are not for upper income people. these are for filthy rich money falling out of there ass people, its just that simple. if you got shitloads of cash 15 grand for somthing to hang on your wall to impress your middle aged rich buddys is not a big deal.if you make a regular wage and are married with 2 kids than it seems crazy.check some of the prices on some of the other crap wealthy people buy, compare a brooks brothers suit to a mens warehouse suit. this is just the way life is if your Bill Gates you buy one of these and your son uses it to take lessons.

Re: Van Halen Charvels

I am amazed at how these guitars are bringing out such polorized opinions in people.

The way I see it, these aren't guitars, they are collector memorabilia. No different than a Van Halen gold record, or a leather jacket worn by Eddie for a photo shoot. It's not about the guitar as a guitar, it's the panache of owning it to stare at.

And I also agree that it's a kick ass investment. Like someone said, if (and when) Eddie dies, watch the value of these things go through the roof. Wanna watch 15k become 30k overnight? Smart money in my book. If I had the coin, I would have one. But I wouldn't touch it.

It's be a good investment if Eddie doesn't play for another good 5-10 years in the direction of Nu-metal or some rap/pop stuff. Or he doesn't out live his fans.

I am actually impressed by the whole marketing process these EVH's created.

Remember that these guitars retail on ebay for $ 5,150. That's a hell of a bargain for a celebrity-striped (not that there are many guitar gods who stripe their guitars...), owned and played guitar.

The fact that people pay $ 15,000 for them is a testimony of a very well thought strategy.

Now, had their starting price been set at $ 15K, would have they sold? If so, for how much?
