I just read an old article advertising the 1995 lineup and the add states that the models came equiped with either Wilkinson Trems or Original Floyd Rose systems. Will someone verify if this add was accurate. I've seen numerous San Dimas Reissues on egay with Schaller Trems and the seller saying the guitar is all original. Re: 1995 San Dimas Reissues
I have re-issues with both trems, but from what I can work out, the earlier ones had the schaller. My Koa SD1 has a schaller and a 3D Jackson(?!) neckplate whereas the other 3 have OFRs with a plain, stamped plate.
Cheers

Re: 1995 San Dimas Reissues
The Schaller is every bit as good as the OFR and they're made in the same factory, so what's the diff? Those are excellent guitars, but I doubt they will ever have the collectors' value like the original SD (Glendora) guitars. Buy it to play, not as a investment.Ron is the MAN!!!!

Re: 1995 San Dimas Reissues
I´m not too sure, but I´ve only seen the earler "distributor reissues" (like mine. Essentially Custom Shop Jacksons w/Charvel Logo) with a Schaller. All of the SD-Reissues I´ve seen firsthand had either OFRs or Wilks........

Re: 1995 San Dimas Reissues
SD #1 have Floyds, Sd#2 have Wilk., Sd#3 had Floyds, Sd#3w have Wilk., Sd#4 have Floyds, Sd#5 have Wilk., Standards and Traditionals have the trad trem. PG's have ( I'll have to dig one out but I think they were trad. or wilk. ) I disagree that they are not collectable. I have been watching the prices go up every year for at least five years. A 3w just went on e-bay for more than some of my San Dimas Charvels cost me. And many of them are in the six to nine hundred range. I used to buy them for three. I have about fifteen of them and want one of each. They are great guitars. JMO Dana

yes of course, a lacewood SD1 would also be cool.
i thought about buying one of each number, but if i do that my personal collection would grow over 20 guitars and i promissed my wife to buy a hotrodded car. and i don´t have the money for that car yet, so no more guitars right now.

Thread hijack!
Back to the issue, from the reponses above, we seem to still have a divided camp on what should be stock equipment on the SD reissues. Based on the Charvel ads, a buyer should be getting an original Floyd Rose, not a trem that states "Jackson, Licensed by Floyd Rose, Made in Germany by Schaller."
Bottom line is that if I'm going to buy something advertised as all original, I want to make damn sure that's what I'm getting. Finally, if the Schaller is every bit as good as an OFR, why wasn't that product advertised by Charvel? Granted, I know nothing about Schaller trems, but I do know that I've played numerous guitars that had "Licensed by" trems and they don't come close to the quality of an OFR."POOP"

Re: 1995 San Dimas Reissues
the OFR and the so called schaller floyd rose are both made by schaller in germany. i owned a kramer 120, on this guitar the trem was stamped "Floyd Rose II" and this thing is exactly like the jackson lt-590 trem. on wich is stamped "made in germany by schaller"
i think the FRII is as good as the OFR.
btw. mr. schaller himself was born in my hometown nuremberg.
back to topic, i have seen a charvel SD with the FRII and jackson neckplate too. this was the pre pro model made in the late 1994 before they started the official SD reissue series.
