Re: EHV Art Series Review @ WWG

When new, the necks feel slinky smooth and are highly buffed, looking somewhat shiny. Folks commonly mistake this for a satin finish. (We heard similar comments about the Bullseye Reissues, too.)

Unless something's changed - which is doubtful - they're oiled, not satin.

Here are the pixs I promised. They're not the best quality, but it's something for now.

Sweeeeeet. Yeah, thanks for posting the pics.

I like the red one, actually. Doesn't look bad, IMHO. But, then again, I'm one of those guys who doesn't necessarily feel offended by not getting an exact color / stripe pattern copy.

So all the stripe patterns are the same on the guitars? I mean the B&Y look the same and the B&W loko the same? Honestly, the RWB looks a whole heck of a lot better than some of the hand-striped ones - TWINK comes painfully to mind.

This is good news. This is bad news. The good news is these look sweet and I've got one coming. The bad news is Charvel didn't slip the release schedule like my credit card and I had been anticipating. My credit card is seeing some action this month

According to John Walker, the EVH series necks are copies of the Boogie Bodies neck from Frankenstein, which IIRC was originally the neck from his B&W? Kramer cut the headstock and attached the banana-shaped pieces.
He said Ed gave them Frankie to do all the measurements and such they needed, so while the necks on these new ones won't be like SD Charvels, they'll be like Frankie.

Damn. I could almost see myself ordering a B&Y.

I would ask others to verify John Walkers information. He gave me incorrect information at BCR regarding a certain line of signature series models and some other incorrect info. And I'm not the only one he hasn't been truthful with. just an FYI. I have not had any communication with him since he's been at Charvel though.

IIRC, Tekky was standing next to me when he said that. He did say he himself held it in his hands and saw the places where Kramer added the banana-head pieces to the original head.
He also said that when Eddie gave them Frankie, he said for them to "do whatever" to it (i.e. deconstruct if they had to), and when they got Frankie back to the shop he said Mike Shannon was like "Dude, it's Frankenstein" "Yeah but Eddie said to do whatever, he didn't care" "But dude, it's FRANKENSTEIN!" I'm sorry guys, I just don't see the attraction to the EVH stripes. I've seen nicer looking art come out of my daughters pre-school class. To each his own I guess.
