Re: EVH Arrives!

Matt's been a great guy to work with. I highly recommend him also.

I agree!
Matt is a great person to work with.

Yea, it seems that their(Jackson/Charvel) highest priority is the EVH series right now.
Where is my custom order now!
Also I hope they will have a new catalog for both Jackson and Charvel by the Winter NAMM!

Re: EVH Arrives!

Sounds like "Fender", the corporate giant takes over a small operation, has great marketing ideas, spends mucho $ on Marketing and advertisements, gets big "Star" to endorse a product and doesn't spend any money on resources, like more employee's, equipment and upgrading the distribution program. I've seen it all too many times. I've been in manufacturing for 25 years. And now I sit in boardrooms and see these decisions all to often. Corporations=Bottom Dollar Profit!

Oh and yes, I hope you all will get your guitars! I'm waiting on a PC1 myself.

I get the feeling that Fender is forcing Jackson/Charvel (and Dan L.) to put emphasis on certain projects (like specials and Namm guitars) at the expense of the regular CS orders (which are now supposedly backed up a year (and that is the number they are giving, who knows what it will really be!?!?).

Rant off.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wasn't the CS wait 12-18 months before Fender took over? Then I recall things picked up after Fender jumped in.

I believe Fender is doing whatever they can to reestablish the brand. There are more models/configurations available from J/C than there has been in a while.

My guess is that they set aside a certain minimum amount of time each day/week/month for CS orders. I bet it's been this way for a while. So when production model sales are up, CS orders take longer.

This is a factor of staffing. Bringing in someone to work on guitars requires time and training which is expensive. So I figure they're hedging their bets by focusing on production models hoping to attract new customers knowing that every CS order is a customer they've already got.

This is one of many reasons I've not placed a CS order myself.

I feel bad for Tekky and others that have obviously had their order preempted. I hope this works out in the end. I really would like to see Jackson/Charvel become a popular brand again.

Tekky's experence does not bode well for my own custom shop order. Except for special paint, it also has pretty straightforward specs. (And, no, it's not even a graphic.) I'm going on about 9 months right now, so it's way too soon to start complaining for a custom. I expect this and more for one.

Oh well. Maybe I'll get my EVH sometime soon.

Tekky and Ralph - hope you get your guitars soon.

What happened to them speeding up the process by moving to Corona? I recall they were starting to get caught up and expected turn around times to be about 6 months. Now it seems like it's right back where it was.

Tekky, they may be holding yours to give it the first 3D plate (since you've been so vocal in your interest about it). If not, I'd certainly be on the phone with JCMI about it, and demanding the first 3D plate as fair compensation for their seeming inability to produce such a simple guitar.

At least it'll have the 245 address, and not the 215. Though I wonder if in fact the 215s will be worth more in the future?

I honestly don't think I've really been very vocal about the 3D plate. I've mentioned that if that's what's holding it up, then I guess I could be more patient. But my problem lies more along the lines of the fact that the only thing I know that's holding up my guitar is EVH, and that's just speculation. Maybe one other thing they should do along with trying to speed up the production while maintaining quality standards is to work to keep customers informed on due dates and stick to them.

Re: EVH Arrives!

I think, after continuing to see price increase after price increase, they better get their **** together, figure out that their customer base is a VERY small piece of the pie, and work their ass off to keep that base happy. They can start by coming back to earth and realizing that the prices they want for these new Charvels is RIDICULOUS. Will I buy a new EVH? Yeah probably. Is some kid gonna walk into a shop and buy a $1650 one hum standard? **** no.

Look around Jackson/Charvel. Find me a dealer where your product is flying off the shelves. It isnt. Hell, go to DCGL, you can buy custom shop leftovers there for less than a standard Charvel.

We perpetuate this madness, so I guess its our fault.

I feel better...........

Re: EVH Arrives!

Mine arrived about an hour or so ago. Been playing it ever since. Just took a break (er, gave my family a break). Here are some pics.

More pictures:

http://www.hackolutions.com/gear/cur...hartseries.htm

This guitar plays great. The neck feels awesome. It's definitely not a standard Charvel neck shape or a current Fender neck shape. It's hard to describe but it fits my hand really nicely. The fret work on mine is great. The wiggle stick is pretty stiff because it's got two springs and the screws are tightened all the way. Bends are nice. The action could be a hair lower.

The finish is pretty cool. If you look close you can see tape marks that were painted over - so maybe it had more stripes before or something. The clear coat is nice. Good fit and finish over all.

To listen to it the only rig I have hooked up right now is a PODxt into a VHT 2150 into a Line 6 stereo 2x12 closed back cab. The guitar sounds really good. It responds well to the touch, backing off the volume cleaned up nicely, it breaks up good, nice harmonics - considering it's a single hum with no switches or tone controls you can get a nice variety of sounds.

The only thing I don't like is whatever brand of strings are on it. Something about 'em doesn't feel right.

I am very satisfied with the guitar.

Oh, almost forgot - THANKS MATT, YOU ROCK!
