How is Tim's any different than any other of the R/W/Bs? The production series are all the same (Black Whites has same paintjob. the Black Yellows all have the same paint job, and the Red White Blacks all have the same paintjob for their colors) I get the impression that alot of people are confused by the difference between the Productionand the Hand striped models on Ebay.

          Re: EVH Arrives!

That is a way cool guitar and I would love to have one, but I'm way anal about paintjobs. Let me tell you why these are wrong besides the red coat being masked off a bit incorrectly:

The proper way to do a frankenstein paintjob is to take the black/white guitar as it appeared on the VHI album:

Then remove the pinstriping or whatever EVH put on there for the thinnest of stripes so that it looks like it originally did:

Then mask it off and paint it red:

Fender/Charvel did not remove the pinstriping. Guess they just took the white/black bodies and painted over them to save money. The guitar pictured on charvel.com, however, looks correct.

Hmmmm.....You know I never thought any of the stripes on the original Black & White were tape......but going off of these pics.....this seems true. I'm going to have to go and look at all the pics I can find.......

Cool guitar, Tim! The finish on that one is different enough from Eddie's that it doesn't look like a slavish copy. Enjoy it to the max!

                Re: EVH Arrives!

The production models aren't all exactly the same, but they are close to the basic patterns of Eds originals, with variations that can be seen if you compare side by side.

                RWB from online ad:

                Tim's guitar:

Compared to one of the high-dollar ones that Ed striped, they are pretty close to identical. Compared to each other, they are noticeably different.

From what I have heard, from others on this board is that these RWBs were not supposed to go out, because the paint was not right on them(that might account for the differences in the pictures). Wild West Guitars received a RWB with their shipment of EVHs and my understanding is that they were told not to sell it. I had always heard that the RWBs were going to take a month or so longer than the WB and YB to deliver, so when I saw the one that was delivered I was suprised.

                    Re: EVH Arrives!

That's a very good point. It will be interesting to see how these compare as more are delivered, & whether the other color schemes have differences in the patterns as well. I guess it boils down to whether there is an automated masking/painting (or stencil?) process for these, or if they are done by hand. I'm clueless about how graphics are done at the production level. Of the two above, I prefer Tim's because it has more of the finer black lines.

Look at Tim's then go HERE ,There are differences within the same colors. If that is the case then I think that is even better, makes each one a little unique. I know some of the "purist" won't like, but I do. Now Like I said earlier maybe the reason they weren't supposed to go out is maybe there aren't supposed to be differences. The guy from WWG clearly stated in his post that Charvel told them they were not supposed to get that piece and they were not allowed to sell it. As the paint was not right on it.

                            Re: EVH Arrives!

Lucky you, thatr's a really nice guitar.

I ordered a B+Y myself, and so far I must admit I am a bit disappointed.
I ordered it through a reputable dealer who told me that he was getting the very first shipment available, and in order to get one in this first batch I was charged a premium.

I gladly paid it because, although to most it's meaningless, I really wanted to get a really low s/n, and I was told mine would have been #3.

Now I see that other dealers are starting to get theirs, while my EVH has not yet arrived.

I'm sure it will be sweet regardless. I personally don't care about serial numbers, but that's just me. I like great guitars. And, BTW I prefer the B+Y too.

Surf - Although I was at the very top of the list when I placed my EVH orders, FMIC has not been shipping the guitars by the date the orders were placed. Well, they sort of are... For instance, I ordered 15 EVH's but to date have only received 3 of them (one of each finish). It seems that FMIC is trying to get a few to each of their dealers instead of fullfilling a dealers complete order and then moving onto the next. If you bought yours from me, this is why you haven't gotten it yet. If you ordered it from another dealer, this is probably why as well. The good news is we're hoping to have all of our orders filled by the end of December. If you're on my list, you'll be getting a phone call from me as soon as I have your guitar.
