I called about it last night and I guess they had just gotten this and the red 2-hum in. Very nice.

I asked the guy about the plate and his description was that it "had raised lettering, not etched".

I like that, but not enough to shell out what will probably over $1500 for it. Now if it had a floyd....

That is a cool guitar.

I wonder why they don't use gloss pickup rings that match the bobbins on the duncans? Those matte rings really stand out to me.

I like the new Charvels but really do NOT like the look of those big Jackson style toggles..they look too big IMO. I swapped the one out on my HRF NAMM guitar....it just didn't look right. The good news is the neck plays and feels like the originals.

Great to see Charvels for sale again...I was looking on gbase and saw a few solid colors with v-trems available.

Couldn't agree more Bret,it's all in the details & that's where the new Charvels lose it for me,flat black pickup rings, logoed Duncans,& all that chrome hardware(especially the tuners!!).....yuck!!

well the pickup besels (ring) are an easy fix..I hope that wouldn't stop people from buying..I can understand it gives people something to bitch about but you can swap those out for a few dollars.
More costly is to swap out tuners...or a toggle..agree though we (C/J fans) area an anal bunch and these small details do not go unnoticed...the tuners, toggle style and pku rings come to my mine immediately as a little off.

Agreed Trace, for the most part these details are an easy fix but for the $$ they shouldn't have to be fixed!!

The details stand out immediately to me too & I must admit, have kept me from buying,if that Yellow Bengal pointy at Wild West had correct pickup rings,non-logoed hums & black tuners I would have grabbed it,just couldn't justify spending the $$ then spending more $$ for new pickups & tuners!!& then there was the etched neckplate too!!

totally agree Chuck, in fact after I purchased my HRF pointy I purcahsed black Schallers and added a Gibson style toggle (like those on the early Charvels). The pkus I am still debating, she sounds awesome hence why I have not swapped them out yet but the logos will ahve to go. These little things can make you second guess a purchase as you said and hopefully will be corercted for us anal guys later.

I am THRILLLED however, with how the new pointy looks, plays and sounds other than those minor cosmetic preferences. They (pointies) are true to the originals and feel great.

Damn screw counters! ...Seriously, little stuff like that is holding you guys back from buying? Man, they're killer guitars!

Agreed about the logo'd Duncan's, though. I positively HATE that huge freakin' screened logo standing out on any guitar, Charvel or otherwise. If Seymour wants advertising, he'd better pay me for it. Seriously, I wish they'd just change to a small same-color etched-in-the-plastic logo, like on Dimarzios. Now that's cool.

didn't stop me Shreddermon, I bought one new pointy altready and I am working a deal on a second. BUT yeah the little details can cause grief to the screw counters amongst us...like me...lol

Agree 100% with the Dimarizo logo idea. I too wish the Duncan logos were not as noticeable. It reminds me of Gibson's failed attempt when they logo'd their pickups for a brief time.

Brasso takes the logos off clean and leaves the bobbins smooth and shiny!

Any guitar that is over $300 stops me from buying! LOL!

I am po' boy these days.

I'd get one if I had the jack.
