Re: what do you think, charvel star?

agree Shreddermon, I also prefer the look of a pointy headstock on the Explorer and Star body styles..a close second would be the Gibson Explorer style headstock

I'm with Splatter, i associate Stars with Stratheads for some weird reason (it started with with Crankdaddy's kickass score, and the rest of the kickass SD Stars on this freaking forum, lol!)

              It is a Rockinger

              hi folks
              got it yesterday
              took it apart:
              it is indeed a Rockinger
seems all to be original except:
the broken edge neckplate(sloopy aftermarket job) and a changed rear strap button location

              neck reads
              "Rockinger Guitars" stamped
              "B50 3007 k/L" handwritten
              its quite nice 1 5/8 20-21mm
headstock surface seems to be sanded somehow?

              body reads
              "Rockinger Guitars" stamped
              "B50 3007 L-black" handwritten
              its all mahogany
              many finish crack-lines (age-caused)
              very minor battle wear
heavy stuff: naked body weights 6 pounds

trem is stamped "Rockinger West Germany"
blackbox is installed, stamped "Kahler by Rockinger"

just had to clean and oil the neck, clean the really dirty body, will reassemble it today
              see how she plays

is somebody of you into the serials of rockinger?
              is that "3007" a serial# or a workorder#?
did they keep log of their guitars?
can i find out wich year it is?
              thanks
              greetz
              andy

Re: what do you think, charvel star?

that nut wouldnt be a rockinger anyway because those lock nuts have 6 individual allen head screws to lock the strings...
as far as I can recall rockingers came only in brass or painted/coated with a black epoxy on the kramer pacer carreras...... I ve never seen a chrome one anyway.
In '80-1 I bought a kramer pacer imperial trans red mahoagny body, with maple s-neck and a rockinger trem, I might even have a pic of that one yet... I loved the guitar but the trem didnt stay in tune for sh!t , so I off'd it and had a custom made '81 hamer sunburst with floyd [non fine tuner] to replace it... wish i had both of them today !
