• Vivian Campbell's Charvel (again)

http://www.autumn-frost.com/album/Vivs_Charvels.jpg

Notice the nut on the Holy Diver Strat. I know the pic was scrunched to fit in the magazine, so the whole thing is more narrow, but notice how much space there is between the Es and the edge of the board

Didn't most Stratheads have a 1 5/8" width? So what's he using - a 1 3/4" nut?

Thanks for the pics of the black and white strat. I had been looking for pics of that for awhile. Love the graphics in it.

1-3/4" nuts were common, along with 1-11/16", on early Charvels.

Yeah, but I didn't think they made a 1 3/4" Floyd nut that early.

I wonder how was he able to sound that good by using Duncan Invaders?

Re: Vivian Campbell\'s Charvel (again)

EVH wanted wide necks in the early days. Charvel was making the VH profile in the very early days. They were 1-3/4" at the nut. EVH was the 3rd to ever use a Floyd Rose.

That neck on Viv's guitar looks to be like Warren's Profile, 1-7/8" nut which had a 2-1/4" heal, Superwide.

HEHEHEE, HE SAID SUPERWIDE...
Hoss, who were the first two to use the floyd?

I think that white one is the best of vivs, would look really cool with a matching strathead.

Do you mean Jason Schon?

So Randy was the first to use a floyd and THE infamous AXE SACK! Wow, that guy was way ahead of the crowd.
The only thing i remember him for is doing a hendrix tribute and playing with sam kinnison.

Of course Floyd was the first then a friend of his was the second to ever have one.

But for pro guitarists - 1st Professional guitars was Randy Hansen the second was EVH. Not sure about Neal Schon or Brad Gillis they may have been before or after EVH.

Cool info Hoss, thanks!

I wouldve figured gillis in there somewhere. He had one on the red fender on the speak of the devil tour.He was pretty proficient at it, like second nature.
