Let me see if I have this right: Ex wife gets pocket of money. Guy claiming it was stolen gets it back and also doesn't get his ex wife ("mother of his children") banged up with the law. Everyone is happy & makes up and it works out...except for the guy that bought a guitar that was never reported stolen to anyone besides maybe a music store owner. That guy gets screwed.

I see 5 years ago he said he'd buy it back, but if I had the guitar I don't know that I'd go for that. If we couldn't come to an agreement on price what's next, a lawsuit? Some sort of problem with the cops? His wife would be fine- limitations probably ran out. I, however, according to this guy, would be in posession of stolen property. Would I get charged? No. But I bet you the cops would lean on me just to make it go away. Who needs it?

If anyone ever wants to talk to me about stolen gear, show me a police report. No police report, not stolen, no discussion. Bid like everyone else.

      Even more interesting......

charvettelover, according to his account, didn't own the guitar! I would imagine if you borrowed a guitar and it got stolen, you could call the police and report the theft....but how in the world could you take action against this Ebay Seller if you aren't the actual owner? That's the guy who needs to get involved.

So Vass is correct, if I'm the seller, you're gonna have to show me a police report. Not a Message Board posting and a receipt from StevieB that he bought it. That wouldn't cut it for me.

If charvettelover's story is truthful.....then his desire to let his wife "off the hook" will likely cost his friend any chance of recovery.

He never responded to anything, including his Facebook page. The fact that Stevie B was his friend and the guitar was sold from there 5 years ago...and then was back in Stevie B's possession...tells me that this situation was sorted out or the story was completely bogus and just an attempt to play on somebody's sympathies so he could buy back a guitar that he regretted letting go.
