• Question about Charvel/ Boogie Bodies

Hi, hope this is in the right place to ask this. I found a guitar body that I believe may be an old charvel or boogie body but I'm not really sure. Here are a couple of pics.

Anyone know if maybe I'm right? Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Question about Charvel/ Boogie Bodies

i was just reading a detailed thread about early charvel / boogie bodies over on charvel central. i really cant remember it now, but some of the people here can definitely help you out, or you can sign up over there and see it.

Looks like a boogie's route but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Can you take a closer shot of the electronics cavity?

Better pics of the Electronics route and neck route would help

I believe that to be an early Charvel body sold as just a body. Charvel sold bodies thru the Dimarzio name and the early ones were not stamped Dimarzio. I have 2 early bodies from 2 separate builders that were bought from Charvel.

It is a cool body. I love the 3 single coil layout. If you would ever consider parting with it I am interested

Re: Question about Charvel/ Boogie Bodies

That's a Boogie Bodies Route. I have one like it only with one hum. I believe the Dimarzio body's only came through with the San Dimas style cavity route only.

Re: Question about Charvel/ Boogie Bodies

I know that this has been discussed on CC but unless someone shows me a "boogie bodies" with that route than it is a Charvel. It is the same route on the B&Y prepro that sold on eBay a few months ago and is the same as my prepro. My Charvel is a Charvel right down to the trus rod adjusting nut. Charvel made bodies fiest then necks. This was the first route. It has all the contours of the early Charvel bodies... lower horn, comfort bevel. Even the lip in the control cavity is the same, just the route shape is different.

Boogie bodies from the same era are a different shape and I have never seen a back routed boogie with this control caity. They had a les paul shape.

                      Here are a few pics..

Kev do you think the front elbow contour looks small on the top body

on the loose body it does but I was thinking it was a shadow. Look at the shape of the comfort bevel...
