• NAMM Custom Koa Bodied Charvel

i fell in love with a Custom Shop Charvel at Winter NAMM. it had two hums, Floyd, one volume knob, a three way switch, Strat headstock and the most organic tone. anybody know where this guitar ended up?
i might have to build a similar custom using Warmoth parts. anybody have experience doing this?
this is my first post but i have been a Jackson/Charvel player since '88. i own a flamed blue SLS and an eerie dess SL1 and even still have my Model 4 Charvel in mint condition from '88.

I was just going to say exactly what Shawn did - I can remember seeing pics of a Koa bodied Charvel strat, with the specs you described, but that had a pointy head....I was interested in that guitar, but have no idea where it went

i am wrong - wishful thinking on the Strat headstock. it was pointy. i found a pic but don't have a way to host it if someone else wants to, i'll gladly email it for posting.

i do remeber being told it was listing at $2300. it made the EVH Charvels next to it (in glass cases) seem cheap (though they did play and sound nice).

That's nice. What does the Koa sound like, though?

That looks almost like Reb Beach's Suhr. Very nice.

Re: NAMM Custom Koa Bodied Charvel

koa is similar to mahogany - dark and rich. i don't like bright tones and that koa charvel sounded awesome to me. it has a warm mahogany type sound. sweet.
BTW today is 4/20

Re: NAMM Custom Koa Bodied Charvel

i'm considering making this my next project: buy the neck and body from Warmoth and build my own version with a reverse Strat headstock. i priced it at under 1k including a case to build it w/ all the real hardware (OFR, ect.). maybe i'll be able to start before summers end.
very few guitars have left an impression like this one did - i find myself daydreaming about it way too often. it felt like "home".
