  • Help with the Identifaction of a San Dimas Charvel

Ive just purcahsed this guitar on ebay, and from what I knew it was a San Dimas Charvel. However Im starting to doubt wether the body is infact origional. Ive taken many photos of the guitar which are linked below, and was wondering if someone could cast their expirienced eye over them and let me know what they think? If you need a photo of any other specific part I can sort that out no problem.
Please let me know your thoughts soon, so I can contact the seller again if it isnt what he advertised it as...

      Ask and you shall receive...
I've noticed the lack of grounding plate too now.

the indentation rout for the volume control gives it away as a model series...this guitar may have been discussed here last year as i recall...and as i look at the neck i suspect it is a model series as well somehow altered to have a proper type of logo...i dont recall ever seeing the hole on the butt end of the neck on a San Dimas, though it is a common practice on japanese made guitars. send it back!!!

yelp this one was discussed before in the ebay section. It is a parts guitar (import body) and furthermore that plate (#2718) was sold on ebay as a loose plate in 2003. Sorry but that is a parts guitar with an import body....

            Send it back...

I was keeping an eye on that one as well, knowing that it wasn't what it proported to be, but I lost track of the auction.....I'd have paid 300 quid or so as it looks quite tidy (for what it is: esentially a re-logoed model 2 with a decent pickup and trem added)

If you paid a sensible price for it and you're happy with what you have in your hands, you could always just try and work out a deal with the seller

I payed £255 (which if it had been real, would have been a total bargin of course). But Im still not happy with the guy, Infact, Im seriously mad with him. He is yet to answer the phone yet though...

Re: Help with the Identifaction of a San Dimas Cha

Don't get me wrong: he misrepresented the guitar, knowingly or not. I figure he knew otherwise he wouldn't have let it go for that price.....

I'd be happy having paid that price for it (asuming it's as clean as the pics show and there are no playability issues), but like I said, I would have bought it with the knowledge of what it actually was.

He was also selling a Kahler'd soloist (a-la Hanneman) which I was interested in, but this auction's dodgy nature kind of put me off it....

                    Good luck sorting it out.....

Re: Help with the Identifaction of a San Dimas Cha

If it had been sold as what it is, I wouldnt have bothered with it to be honest. The guy seems pretty clueless (hence, perhaps, the low price - or so I thought). I fear the guy knew what he was selling but was just acting stupid.

That is a Model 2 body for sure. The volume pot is positioned close to the pickup. The neck also looks to be a Model Series neck.

Very nice looking guitar, and you do have the neckplate.

So are you shipping the guitar back to him, or is he giving you a part refund to an agree amount?
