Re: San Dimas prices?

Ok thanx. I concider GMW or buying SD charvel parts from ebay and putting them together. Also there is a chance I'm in the US next year so I start wisiting the pawnshops.

And RR05xx, my attitude wasn't about casualness, 83SanDimas asked what kind of a guitar it should be, Tommy's strathead was the first thing that came to my mind. I made that example how the guitar should look not what's the story behind it.

Re: San Dimas prices?

If you ditch the strat head and go with the pointy you will get that early SD vibe, a guitar that probably plays as well as or better than a strathead. Some of the 83 Charvels with pointed headstocks are great guitars and can be had for a grand or less. JMO Dana

You're looking at $2000 and up for almost any strathead. Mostly up.

Maybe if you're lucky or know someone that owes you a favor, or for parts-pieces... perhaps a POS that doesn't play worth a damn.

For anything half-decent, original, and a good player... I'd say starting at an easy $3000... and you'll probably be looking for a while.

Endrik, considering that you´re in Europe, yau may want to take a look into the ´90 "Distributor Reissue" and ´91 Limited Edition Stratheads... they´re fairly close to the SDs (the neck on mine is a carbon copy of the one legit Strathead I´ve touched), and command less $$ because of the Jackson plate... All rare custom Shop axes, though, and I think both runs together were 250 axes total (75 red/ 75 Blue of the first and 100 of the Lim Ed.s IIRC) so they may end up going a similar route in the future

Don't waste your time trying to decide between a pointy or a strathead. What you need is a SHARKHEAD

Re: San Dimas prices?

Another alternative that's a lot cheaper is to look for early Jackson strat bolt ons. San Dimas plated (even if Ontario built).
I have one and the neck on it is so close to my old charvel (#2803)that it's a monstor of a player. You can pick one of these up for between $5-800. If they have the jackson trem, swap it out (I did this to mine) and you're good to go.
Now this is if you are just looking for a "real" killer player.
Of course it doesn't have the "Strathead" aura but you'l have a kick ass playing guitar!

I second that. Nick's Jackson is killer in fit and function.

Re: San Dimas prices?

Nick your axe looks killer, I definetly want one of those early Jacksons, but I also want to have at least 1 strathead superstrat.
