  • How did the ser #'s work on the 90's SanDimas??

I was looking at the gallery and noticed that the SanDimas I, II, III, and IV's are showing up as 95's and 96's... with different "1 of xxx". How did the serial numbering on those go?

I have a 95 Koa San Dimas II (I assume I's are floyd, II's are wilkeys, and III's and IV's have fancier tops)

It's Serial 950753... I see Vic has a Koa one that's 950913... so were there 1000 Koas made or just SanDimas's for the year?

Any info you guys have would be great.

Early ones with Jackson plates xxxx serial format, or those charvel plates numbered 95xxxx or 96xxxx I think.

I do believe the 95 and 96 were for the year, and the numbers after that were the position in production for the year regardless of body wood.

        Thanks.

Are there any records as to how many were Koa, Lacewood, Mahogany, or quilt top?

Yup,iirc the earliest had etched Jackson plates!!
The etched Charvel plates started with 95XXXX(1995)or 96XXXX(1996)!!
I'm not sure how many of each wood-type were built but I don't remember a quilt-top,only Koa,Lacewood or Mahogany!!

          Here's my SDII,wish I kept it:

Here's pics of several different models:

You'll see that the III's and IV have quilted maple on mahogany.
