• Strange feeling about new Charvels...

I has at the Scottsdale GC yesterday and they have two new Charvels. A black single hum, floyd, ebony board and copper snakeskin 2 hum, floyd, ebony board. It was good to see Charvels available again I stared at them for a while until someone actually spoke to me about playing one. (That is rare for me because I sold out years ago and I look like a corporate nerd now.) Anyway, I noticed that while I did want to play and possibly purchase one I wasn't the slobbering idiot I would have been had these been the old school Charvels that I happen to stuble upon. Anybody else notice this sort of phenomena?

No, I can't say I feel the same way. I was blown away to see six of them in my local store, and couldn't wait to play a couple of them, even though it meant I would be late for dialysis! I also plan on going back ASAP to play the rest.
I actually suprised myself on how excited I was to see and play them.

ive played 4 new charvels: my 25th, my bullseye, a black 1 hum pointy, and a white 1 hum pseudo strathead. all played incredible and blew away all the other guitars in the store

I haven't seen one yet. I try to stay away from the Guitar Center because it will only make me sad. I can't afford one right now.

However, I have been tempted to drag my Predator down and A/B it against a new pointy. I am curious to see how the Predator, which for some reason has so much mojo it is obscene, would compare. So far...it has slayed about everything I have played since I obtained it.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Same here!! I still don't like the look of the logoed hums & chrome tuners, etc. but no complaints when I play 'em,they're just like the 80's SD Charvies were when they were new imo!!

Mine feels and sounds great. I actually like it better than the San Dimas I have. Of course I've only played a couple San Dimas and the new one I have so I havent had much experience.

agree I love playing them and my hats off to the guys as IMO they done a great job at recapturing the vibe of the originals...

Great guitars and great seeing them back. I have several of the new ones and they hold their own against the originals.

I haven't played one yet so maybe that will get me salivating. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way talking down about the new Charvels. I am happy to see them and to know they are available, but it doesn't seem like the find it used to be.

It never is when they are new. That is because they are a known commodity at a set price. Finding an old San Dimas in a little shop is like finding treasure...you may get it for nothing. That is the rush.

Thats the way I feel when I find an SD plated Jackson.Oiled neck the smell of years of use and the original cases.I'm wierd I know.

Is it me or do the new ones just seem so overpriced? I love Charvels, but just cant seem to justify spending the kind of coin they are asking for them.

I wish I could walk into a local GC and play a new Charvel. I haven't seen a new USA Charvel (or USA Jackson for that matter) in our local GCs in over 5 years. On a rare occasion you might find a beat up, over priced used Jackson but nothing to write home about. But maybe that's for the better. I'm sure if given the chance to test drive a new Charvel, I'd probably come home with another toy.

I love the new single humbucker Charvels.
I've had a few wet dreams of me owning one.
I plan to have one of the new ones no doubt about it.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
