What woods were the san dimas charvel bodies made from? I have servel alder body guitars and know how heavy they are, but I've got an 84 charvel strat that is heavier than the rest. The tone is awesome!!!!! Any ideas what heavier wood it may be? Thanks.

Maple & ash were also used,based on the weight may be maple!! -

I had a 3 Hum Kahler (yuk!) equipped San Dimas with a pointy head in Metallic Red that the body was made out of maple. I have a Strat(R) head B&Y striped that is poplar. Alder, maple, and poplar were the most common body woods used back in the day. Currently we use alder for the bodies on the Charvel models and most of the Jackson stuff.Comment

My '83 was ash, my '84 was maple, & my '85 was basswood.
Like maple and ash the best over all others.Comment
